Leafs lose Muzzin, probably for the season (and career) with a cervical spine injury. TJ Brodie also hits the shelf for a few games with an oblique injury.

The good news is they can put Muzzin's LTIR space to use. The bad news is they don't have a lot of maneuverability. They are at 50 contracts. They got down to 49 when Aube-Kubel was claimed off waivers by the Capitals, but a calamity of injuries at the goalie position in both the NHL and AHL forced them have spend their last contract on Keith Petruzzelli.

In other injury news, the Blue Jackets are getting eviscerated. They lost Werenski last week for the season with a shoulder injury and they just announced Laine is going to miss the next month or so with a sprained ankle. They also have Boqvist and Voracek on IR.

Jarmo's not the tanking type but given they stink and have nobody healthy, I'd go full tank for Connor Bedard mode. They might even have a leg up given the rest of the tankers are in the West and will pick up points because they play more games against each other.

Seattle has screwed this up badly. They should've sent him back to the OHL. There's nothing wrong with letting him dominate that league. I don't know how this 2 months of healthy scratch / getting 8 minutes of ice time when he does play further's his development. Seattle has figured out a way to get him on the ice for the next month or so between the AHL loan and WJC's but that gives him ~12-15 games and then they are back in the same position again. NHL or OHL. And if they keep him in the NHL they will likely end up burning the first year of his ELC for nothing (3 more games played or 25 more on the active roster wipes it out). So, in all likelyhood, he ends up in the OHL. Where he shoulv'e just been in the first place. Adding to this disaster is that the book on Wright is that he's very hard on himself, so this episode likely isn't helping his confidence.

How to run a prospect 101.

Glad it seems like he's doing OK in the aftermath, that is terrifying.

Am I a bad person for first going to the Pens' Capfriendly page? Because this makes that pretty wild... 6+ years at $6.1m AAV remaining on a 35+ contract
