He might not make it to Black Friday. 9-9-4 after tonight, and season finishes of tank, 1st round loss, 1st round loss, 1st round loss.

That said, Dubas needs to eat some shit too. They have $64 million tied up in 12 players for next season, and need to use what will likely be $20 to sign at least a couple forwards, 5 defencemen, and a backup goalie.

Edit: Tack on another $1.2 million taken up for this season and the next two because they retained some Kessel salary. So they have something like $65 million spoken for next year with lots of holes.

The goal Vegas just scored to go up 4-0 getting upheld was atricious, and re- pissed me off about the fucking Montreal shenanigans last week.

The end of the second period of the Ducks/Caps game was an all-out donnybrook and like most of those situations, it was the result of the referees losing control of the game. There was a bunch of stuff by the Caps not called, so the Ducks retaliated. It was a very entertaining shit show, and I'm just glad it didn't involve the Bruins.

Can I get a "why is the spit an ejection but the sucker punch when being held by the refs isn't?" explanation for someone who never played hockey?

Is it hockey specific? I’d rather be sucker punched than spat on.

Yeah it's not even close for me. Getting spit on is disgusting and vile and degrading.

I think this is the key. Getting suckered has happened historically in the NHL. The most famous brawl in league history got its start from a sucker punch, and the only reason that guy was thrown out was because the sucker punch broke Hamel's eye. Another way to look at it is there is a set of penalties for punching each other, but there's always been a thing about spitting.

The Isles are on an insane run. 13-0-1 in their last 14, were just trailing Pittsburgh 4-2 before scoring twice in the final 5 minutes to send it to OT.

The theme that ran through the Ducks’ side is respect. Or the lack of it. Jabs are always thrown in scrums. Players routinely try to get the extra shot in, if not the final one. Some are delivered in a sneaky, unsuspecting manner.
But spitting? That’s a different one. Two of the more infamous episodes in U.S. sports were outside of hockey, with Bill Romanowski spitting on J.J. Stokes during a Denver-San Francisco Monday night NFL game and then-Baltimore Orioles second baseman Roberto Alomar launching one at the face of MLB umpire John Hirschbeck. Romanowski was fined, while Alomar was suspended.

When asked whether there is any circumstance in which spitting on a player is acceptable, Gudbranson quickly said, “Zero.”
“Zero,” he repeated. “At least from my end, and I’d say 99.9 percent of the league would say the exact same thing. It’s just something that it’s just disrespectful. I mean, we’re competing. That’s fine. I’ve got no problem with guys fighting. That’s what this game is all about is guys fighting to win hockey games, and sometimes that’s what happens. But going to that level is wrong.”
To the list of things that should not be involved in a scrum, Eakins said spitting is “probably right near the top.”

I still think I'm on team "I'd rather not face a potential concussion", but I at least I understand the other argument a lot better. Thanks.

Leafs lost to Buffalo 6-4. They may have fixed the coaching problems but they still have big time backup goalie problems. Hutchinson came into the game with an .879 save percentage and gave up 5 more goals.

Lightning attempt to comeback from 0-3 against Carolina but come up short, 2-3. Brutal missed call with about 40 seconds remaining as Stamkos got blatantly boarded after Tampa had lengthy 6-on-5 possession, with Hedman getting a penalty down-ice instead to stop play.

I know it's a "rain is wet" statement, but this league has a big problem with officiating.
