Oscar Robertson and Elgin Baylor?
Maybe. Baylor would be seriously undersized in today's game for what he did and his overall shooting numbers (which were good in 1960) would be considered abysmal now. .489 TS% in 1960, which would be second worst in the NBA this year. Oscar would have a better shot, although his speed against 1s and girth against 2s and 3s would probably be a problem. He'd make the league, but I'm not convinced that he'd start. He had decent enough shooting skills, but he'd rely on craftiness.

Probably are some guys that we can make a case for, but they'd largely be hidden among today's athletes overall. And the difference in what shooting skill was considered "acceptable" back then is kinda astonishing.

Can we have todays players switch to stiff rims and no 3 point line? Comparing shooting percentages across eras isn’t as straightforward as it seems. If you don’t believe me go shoot at a modern rim versus an old school one.

7-hour school bus or train rides, cheap hotels, bad food, warped floors and terrible footwear. Todays players cannot even comprehend. The Garden floor, even as late as the Bird years, was worse than most middle school guys back then. This is not hyperbole.

Gordon has been showing his "Truth" this quarter. I had thought he could develop into a PP34 light, but the guy could just never shoot well enough.

This butler garbage has to stop. 80% of his game is just garbage calls. Hate watching him play basketball

Mark Jackson should be done as a PBP guy. He’s awful to begin with but his failure to log a vote for Jokic is disqualifying

And why are the refs bailing out Butler?

Denver offense has a lot of purposeful movement toward/near the basket. Murray is under a lot of pressure on the perimeter but he’s taking what’s there to find space, wait for the cutter, or be the cutter himself. Not forcing anything dumb, no turnovers.

Edit: Bam is one of the worst great players or best bad players I’ve ever seen. I can’t ever figure out if I think he is really skilled or just athletic enough to hide the fact he’s actually not skilled at all. Sometimes he plays like his ass is on fire and other times like he doesn’t give a shit. Really weird player.

If we were doing similarity scores, who is Nugget comp?

Better version of Gasoline/ Connelly Grizz? Stockton/Malone Jazz? Who else?

I hate to be the guy tooting the Wilt horn, and a lot of the Wilt stories are apocryphal, but Wilt was a competitive track and field athlete and strongman in his day. I get that the kids want to act like everyone who played before 1985 was junk, but 1960 Wilt could start in this league now. Probably aren't any other 1960 NBA roster guys who could. If I could have either guy at their peak on my team now, it would be Giannis, but for skills reasons, not athleticism.
Wilt was a Globetrotter.

Hard to say. Not many teams in history where best passer is the C, and the PG doesn't distribute but scores a ton

Florida is the Wild West; overheard in the Lucky house tonight “dad, you can’t just shoot a gun in your yard”
