I was at the game, what an exciting team to root for this year, Cardiac Cats indeed! Tremendous showing by UVM fans as well, super impressed by current students and alumni who traveled down to see the game, it was well worth it.

Wouldn’t call it non-revenue because the crowds have been healthy and I’m guessing tv numbers have been too- I’ve been enjoying the hell out of the NCAA women’s volleyball tourney. Mrs O is a Pitt alum and the Panthers are #1 and look the part. Watched Penn State take a nail biter over Creighton. Good stuff.

Timely post - the semifinals are today at 6:30 and 9:00 ET, with the championship match at 3pm ET on Sunday.

Speaking of volleyball and obscure ex-Boston athletes, the volleyball coach at Missouri for 14 years was Wayne Kreklow.

Since this is the non-revenue thread, not sure where this fits... but are folks tracking the recent changes in NCAA scholarship caps and the decision that years played at JUCO/Community Colleges do not, based on an interim court order, count toward the 4 year NCAA eligibility limit?

College sports are going to change drastically as a result of these two changes, and being a high school kid who wants to play D1 sports is going to wildly change as well.

Tomorrow night's NCAA women' volleyball final guarantees a woman head coach will win a D-I vb championship for the first time ever.

So far the JUCO one applies only to that player.

That'll probably change though.

Guys, I know there was a crappy football game to watch, but not one mention of the NCAA volleyball final or Penn State coach Kate Schumacher-Cawley becoming the first woman to lead a D-I team to a volleyball title (while undergoing cancer treatment?) No comments about Penn State's Jess Mruzik's huge match (29 kills, 16 digs, multiple blocks)?

It was fun to watch, and relieved me from having to witness the Patriot's 2nd half.

Women's volleyball is happening. Let's all get with the program here.
