Sirianni doesn't call the plays, but IIRC has been known to overrule his OC on play calls. At least in 2023.

Yeah, that doesn't pass the smell test. Why would he go back to an inferior job? If I were him, I would ask for some roster control (I work with the GM but the 53-man roster is my call) and a boatload of money.
And the previous iteration of the team went down that route when they hired Lombardi. Would only have to cycle through a few head coaches after that to end up with the next Joe Gibbs.
Dan Campbell looks like he could explode any second and Ben thinks (knows) he’d be next in line to take over the team whose wins/season have shot up like Nvidia stock. I hope Campbell stays healthy though. He’s great for the NFL.

This is basically the second straight year he's said no to HC opportunities. It would be extremely interesting to pick his brain as to why. Last year I get, this year he could have essentially chosen his team and situation. It's pretty rare for these guys, especially when it's their first HC opportunity, to leave it on the table. He's either an advanced practitioner of "enoughness" or he has another plan in mind.
Yes, but he only has two options. Maybe he doesn't like either of them enough to jump and he believes he'll have more opportunities later.
If he thinks the Cowboys or Eagles jobs might be open next season, that may be true. But unless he heard bad things about the group owning Washington, he really should have considered that job since they do have some weapons and will get their pick of one of the top three QBs. That looks like a potentially pretty good situation.
Pretty happy about this hire. He's done wonders with the Ravens defense. Hopefully he brings in a good OC as well.
Less hostility than I imagined, perusing some of the possible Sons of Majik Man Don sites. They are cautiously optimistic at the hire, mostly, and like the DB experience. But it seems mostly they are not familiar with him.

A meh hire as far as I can tell. I hope I'm wrong, and he is better than the 28-3 that everyone remembers him for. When you are the last dog at the bowl, there is not much left to pick from.
The reports were they kept ruling these guys out, even once Johnson and Macdonald were off the board. That was a strange approach.

It's a commentary on how teams want to set up their internal power structure likely. The guys who don't want personnel power are in, guys who want a significant say are out.
