Lowe says there are no picks going. Someone want to make the case for this for Orlando?

They found an old article written during Jennings rookie year and didn't look at the date?

That's what she said.
Has to be buyers remorse on Tobias Harris on Orlando's end.

Harris' contract is front loaded, great value. Jennings is expiring and Ilyasova is a team option next year. Orlando just wanted to dump him, has to be.

Just great cap flexibility for Orlando, but with the cap going up there is room on 30 teams for Tobias' contract I would think.

Harris being off the table removes one option I had my fingers crossed for to go to Boston in a deal.

I... don't get this one. There's no real point in clearing cap space - cap space is the least valuable commodity this season.

You mean, besides the $17mm in cap room they just freed up for next year?
Yeah, this trade makes sense 2 years ago. Basically all teams are getting 2X that 17M this offseason anyway, and ORL already has a low payroll. I hope this isn't the whole trade.

I guess more moves coming from Orlando, I'm just surprised Harris' value was so low. Always liked him. Nice move for Detroit.

Also, I would have thought that they would have been able to get back a late first round pick for Harris, so it seems as though they really wanted Jennings for some reason.

Defends stretch 4s. He goes out to the perimeter really well. He's a three, with the size to play the four.

Nice ... you brought me back to the night rookie Jennings dropped 55 on Curry and my Warriors on my birthday in 2009 (while Steph put up a quiet but efficient 14). Even though I had lobbied hard for us to pick Curry before the draft, I distinctly remember having an awful sinking feeling after that game that we had botched yet another draft pick...

Yes, he can actually physically do what Jeff Green was supposed to do.
He's still only 23, has a lot of upside to be more consistent and improve his shot selection.

I mean, if I had to try. . .

meh, I have nothing. If the value for Harris was really so low, I'm shocked there weren't a dozen teams willing to make better offers. I'd seen some stuff lately about Orlando wanting to add veteran players; their GM must have just panicked and vastly overrated the importance of that.

I don't know if he tops the list but Al Jefferson is easily one of the last guys I would ever think about adding to this Celtics team.

Howard to the Hornets rumors from Marc Stein: http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/14787602/charlotte-hornets-houston-rockets-exploratory-talks-dwight-howard-deal

Simmons Tweeted that the Celtics should get involved to get Big Al back home. Hope that was a joke because Big Al is big washed up.

Simmons without Zach Lowe's influence is pretty lost on the NBA, honestly. Yesterday he suggested the Celtics trade the Brooklyn pick for Jabari Parker.

Jennings was pretty good last year before he got hurt. Orlando thinks he can return to form and be a good backup PG. Moving Harris means more playing time for Gordon and Hezonga. Illaysova is a decent backup. Both he and Jennings played for Skiles in Milwaukee. Skiles thinks a little more veteran leadership will really help the team, and they want to try to contend this year. Harris just wasn't working out.

Yes, Jennings wasn't bad last year. I had him on my fantasy team and he used to get tons of assists. His shooting percentage wasn't great, but he usually had a double-double (points-assists). Maybe Orlando is looking for a good passer as backup PG.

I really doubt that it was low. Doesn't strike me as a coincidence that both guys coming from Detroit used to play for Skiles. After having read that Windhorst piece on pg trade saga of 2015 I don't think one can assume (absent a track record of proven trade acumen) that a GM/organization fully explored the market just because they made a deal.

I thought Gallo was a good fit for Orlando and that Harris + a pick, or expanding the deal to take back Faried's contract, made some sense.

That's what she said.
Bulls "aggressively shopping" Pau Gasol.

How aggressive? What teams would try for him at the deadline? Knicks want him, but don't need him now.

Jerebko, Zeller and a First rounder? Will they be able to get more than that? Put in James Young, or Rozier?

Would Pau help the Cs this season as a rental enough?

Damn. Watching a team try to play defense with both Harden and Jefferson would have been awesome.

First rounder for a guy who is always hurt is pretty shocking...

Any chance Dwight opts in seeing the minimum perceived value he is getting across the league? Or is it already a known thing that he is going to opt out and go to Atlanta?

Frye is an excellent 3 point shooter, which is essentially all the Cavs ask Love to do. Love is the much much better player, but it seems like a lot of his value is wasted with what Cleveland does. Any chance this is setting up a Love move?

I suppose, but the Cavs aren't exactly brimming with depth; so, this could just be an add-on move

I doubt it. Frye is a bench player at this point. They picked up depth for next to nothing. Now if they get Ryan Anderson from NO, you can certainly move Love and basically replicate what he can give you with those two.

It sure looks like Orlando is cleaning house, and getting little in return. I'd like to see Danny give them a call and see if they've soured on Oladipo.

Yep, certainly the other possibility is he's a 6'11'' James Jones.

Just hoping for some fireworks!

The back of your computer
3 team deal sending Frye to Cleveland, Verajao and picks to Portland and basically just cap savings for Orlando.
Pick is reportedly CLE's 1st rounder in 2018. ORL is reportedly getting Jared Cunningham (to be waived) and a 2nd rounder (no details on from whom or what year).

Presumably to back up Schroder at PG -- but why hasn't Teague been traded yet?
Chicago dumped his expiring $2.8m to help them get below the tax and the 2nd rounder was probably one of those contingencies that never get transferred or are a very low pick. Maybe a simple small favor on the Hawks end that occurs all the time.

Today was a whole lot of nothing. The east is decided and that team can't beat the West winner, who likely is GS.

Ok then, wake us up when the western conf finals begin

Traded for Lance Stephenson. A year after Danny gets a 1st round pick for him (that could turn out to be pretty good), Green is basically given away. Strong move.
There is also a 1st going to Memphis, but Lowe says it's a heavily protected pick in 2019, not like the potentially UNPROTECTED pick the C's got from the Grizz.
