We don't know the specifics around the Raptors/Siakam negotiation but by taking only a four year deal, he joins a loaded FA class that includes the following players. I strongly suspect that agents like FA markets like that because there are more chances for players not to re-up with their teams and those clubs who miss out will pay up for the next guy. To be clear, that is simply my conjecture.

2024 Free Agents:

Klay Thompson
Tobias Harris
Khris Middleton
Kemba Walker
C.J. McCollum
Devin Booker
Kristaps Porzingis
Karl-Anthony Towns
Draymond Green
Eric Gordon

Weird from Toronto's point of view: why not offer him the 5-year max and get another year of team control? I guess maybe he didn't want it, but usually guys don't turn those down. And for the team: if you're going to go 4 years anyway, why not wait until RFA if he won't take the 5-year? You won't have any hurt feelings if you've offered him a 5-year max.
I agree with the above. ALSO, not sure why they'd be in such a rush with China cutting the spigot off.

Yeah, it definitely makes sense for Siakam to want only 4 years, which is why I can’t figure out why Toronto gave it.

Well, this probably kills any chance Danny had of getting Jaylen in for a bit less than the max.

Talking about their test scores?

Did I miss something?
"We've added any sexist language or LGBTQ language, any denigrating language in that way, anything that is non-basketball-related," said Jerome Pickett, the NBA's executive vice president and chief security officer. "So 'your mother' comments, talking about your family, talking about test scores, anything non-basketball-related, we've added that in as well as being something that we will go and pull a fan out of the seat and investigate what happened."

I know what it means, I was more wondering why they added test scores. Was there an incident?

Zion is having surgery for a torn meniscus and will be out 6-8 weeks.
Between Zions knee and Morey's Twitter fingers, the upcoming season is already off to a rough start. And that is not even factoring what happens if HRB is right about Zion being the new Oden.

This is weird.

Unless Larry Coon got this wrong in his cba faq, or they recently changed the rules, this is not legal.
Yeah, it didn't occur to me, but that's right. Maybe the disqualifying bonus has to come from the team signing the player to a 2-way? The Bulls must have a competent capologist, yes?

From the CBA FAQ:

A Two-Way player’s salary may be guaranteed (see question number 63) for no more than $50,000, which is pro-rated if he signs after the start of the season. If a player is waived from a standard NBA contract with a guarantee greater than $50,000, then for the rest of that season he cannot play for that team’s G-League affiliate or sign a Two-Way contract with any team.
I believe the rule is that once the Celtics offered to convert Strus' two-way deal into a one-way, with a guarantee of >$50K, he was no longer eligible to play for the Celtics G-league affiliate. Apparently, the bolded is not quite correct.

The bolded is what I was referring to. He must've gotten it wrong unless they changed the rule.

I'm just asking, what would be the purpose of stopping Strus from signing with another team on a two-way?

I can see restricting him from going back to Boston or Maine Red Claws this season
