This is an unexpected one. I do think Baj would better benefit from playing under Lijnders as a regular starter than getting tossed into the perpetual drama of Barca.

But it can hard for a Spanish kid to turn this down…

Barca are desperate for a DM at this point with young Marc Bernal tearing his ACL. Anyone they bring in now would go right into the rotation. I’m sure the club are sending loan offers out to anyone who might be interested.

Barca are a divisive club politically and may or may not be attractive to him. He’s from Galicia where noted anti-Catalan Francisco Franco was born.

I appreciate the insight on Galacia.

My concern is that the impulsive bid for Baj, while an obvious need due to injury, just reflects the Barca drama we’ve come to know (and love for Barca-haters). There might be an open spot in the rotation, but as a loan player, who is stumping for him? Is Baj really Flick’s pick or is he a good Spanish kid that someone higher up thinks is a clever idea? If it’s a slow adjustment for Baj, is he going to get buried on the bench? The Roque experience should give every young player with a Barca offer pause.*

The kid missed a full season. He needs minutes and I can’t think of a better situation than playing for Lijnders, a manager who has already coached Baj for several years, for Red Bull, who has a strong working relationship with LFC, and in Austria, where he should be a no-doubt starter every week racking up matches.

*Obviously, there was a lot going on with and around Roque & Barca there, but a what a shitshow. It’s crazy to me how many agents steer young players into bad situations and still retain clients. But it’s lucrative to keep feeding Chelsea players…

Looks like you won’t have to worry about it.

I think the overall concern for me for any player going to Barca is treatment of players in general. They’ve been treated as commodities at best and vilified at worst. There are positives though. It’s a competitive environment and players get to play in the biggest of games. These experiences can’t be duplicated. The club have always given chances to young players (admittedly they don’t have much experience with players on loan) and were ready to go into this season starting three 17 year olds.

Anyways, they didn’t have room in the budget so it was never really an option. I understand people getting joy out of the club’s financial situation but I’m rooting for them to ge their act together (I’m Catalan, grew up as a Barca fan, and most of my family are fans with some being culés). Setting aside the socio-political stuff, the steady stream of trophies going to the Bernabéu gets old.

Not to derail things but I would like to point out that Galicia is pretty evenly split politically. The old school clasical center right party PP has slightly more than half the seats in the local government while a composition of Left leaning parties; PSOE, The Gallego Socialist Party and Sumar make up about 48% of the government.

The fucktards VOX are irrelevant up North anywhere that touches the Cantabrian Sea and have 0 seats.

Also Galicia has produced pieces of shit on the Political Left as well... The Castros were Gallego.

James Pearce (The Athletic) reports that Forest offered Liverpool Turner + cash for Kelleher. Hopefully the Liverpool staff didn’t laugh before hanging up.

I guess Toney can say goodbye to international football. Granted he's not in Carsleys recently announced squad, but a decent season in the prem would've served him well in that regard.

Brentford have accepted a bid in the region of £40m for Ivan Toney from Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli.
Sources close to the England forward say they believe the deal will go through, and Toney will complete the transfer.
Toney, 28, has not played for Brentford so far this season and manager Thomas Frank has already ruled him out of Saturday's game against Southampton.
The Bees turned down a £35m bid from Al-Ahli before the start of the season and Toney has also been linked with Chelsea in recent weeks.

Good luck! The Lo Celso Spurs got was a deeply irritating and frustrating player, but from his loans it seems like in Spain you get Healthy Interested In Club Football Gio Lo Celso, who is a way better player to have.

Now it's looking like Sancho to Chelsea on loan. The fact they are still bringing in more players is hilarious.
But Osimhen is off. The Saudi window is open for a few more days, so that one may get done.

And Sterling to Arsenal! The details will be really interesting. I have to respect Raheem for getting out there and pushing to find a new opportunity.

Edit: Fab updated the story - Sterling is a loan, no buy option.

Looks like Osimhen is moving towards a loan to Galatasaray, but he’s also seeking a lower release clause and more flexibility to transfer in January. What a mess for Napoli.

I watched Fab’s YouTube broadcast on this .. basically he was only ever going to a team that would match his full salary. Fab said PSG were open to that but not open to the €130m release clause - Chelsea couldn’t afford either Arsenal also had interest but not at those prices. Basically both parties screwed this up. Not to mention all those infantile videos the team released about him last winter.
