So we need a complete game shutout tomorrow and then we need to sweep the No One Remembers We Exist Sox. Then, and only then, will this nauseating taste leave my mouth and allow me to remember that baseball is supposed to be fun. That wasn’t fun!

What a brutal loss. A day after doing a great job the pen completely melted down. Ugh.
Seems like this pattern has repeated itself over and over again this year. Get a good game out of the no namers from the bullpen one night and then a horror show the next.

After an 8-1 stretch, there is a likelihood this team is 8 games behind the Yanks after tonight. WOW
Yankees are playing out of their minds with only signs of improvement. Forget about the Yankees. The Rangers, Indians and the Rays are who we need to follow up.

90 pitches for Barnes over 4 straight games. He’s fried. We just haven’t had a lot of blowout wins or losses and have to use key guys like Barnes every night. The day we get a big lead is the day the pen hits the wall.

just catching up...

-Blue Jays did a nice job just barely avoiding strikeouts in their comeback.
-Vaz was horrible behind the plate, again. the last run in the 7th was all on him, and this was a 1 run loss.
-can't just sit on 6 runs at Fenway and pack it in. I don't think they all tried to cruise on 6 runs, but AB and JD are swinging at so much shit out of the zone and Mookie has turned into an ordinary player, they definitely stalled out there.

$236 million dollar payroll. Extensions given to Sale and X. This team is built to win now. They won’t be sellers. DD will fix the bullpen. Henry won’t hear otherwise.

Sounds like Ken Giles wouldn't mind coming over:

Ken Giles loves Boston (hint, hint.) "It always feels like it’s a playoff atmosphere and I always enjoy pitching here," Giles said after earning the save today. “This city overall is a great place to pitch. It gets me pumped up." #Bluejays

the Yankees are basically having our 2018 season. it might be impossible to catch up to them.
As they rally to take the lead. They are better. The Sox are good enough to beat most bad teams regularly. With this bullpen though, they are not good enough. Barnes and Brasier pitched to form today. They suck. The fourth reliever on the Yanks is better than either of them and Betances is hurt.

the Yankees should have lost a few games in the standings with all their injuries, but somehow everything has gone right for them this year and they're set to cruise to, maybe, the #1 seed in the AL this year as Houston suddenly looks crippled by injuries.

every troll who said we were lucky last year seems to have a point now. it doesn't feel like our current roster is a perennial title contender, while the Yanks' have way more pieces in place long term AND have the farm capable of trading for the final piece, say a Max Scherzer, down the line.

All true, but the Yanks haven't won jack yet, and even if they win 110+ games this year, that's no guarantee at all that they'll win it all. Meanwhile, 2018 can never be taken away.

I am talking strictly regular season. we can only hope the playoffs work out in our favor, or at least against the Yanks.

8 back now, 9 in the loss column. they've played some good ball despite these dumb losses, but it's led to little gains in the division, more so in the 1st WC race. the spring training strategy looks more and more stupid as well, are we talking like this if we start, say, 10-9 in our first 19 games instead of 6-13?

Vegas has a prop bet. You can take the Dodgers, Yankees and Astros or the field to win the World Series. Right now, it would be hard to take the field.

I have some hope we might get to watch Dave Roberts' team beat Aaron Boone's team in the WS.

Teams peak and valley. Any team that peaks during September has a good chance provided they make the playoffs. There’s always hope in baseball.

Fake edit: This excludes the Rockies.
