If the game was at normal time tomorrow, it’s probably played. With it at 1pm, I don’t know. I’m three hours away from NYC, we’re supposed to get 1.5 to 2 inches of rain from overnight to tomorrow.

Tomorrow is interesting. No chance they play the game at the 1 pm start time thanks to the remnants of Florence, but if they are able to push the game back to a normal night start there's a decent chance they'd be able to play.

It’s going to be interesting if they delay this. I don’t think either team wants a day night double at this point and o Mo don’t think there are more common off days

Unless the Yankees are dead set against playing after sundown tomorrow, I don't see why they won't get it in. It may not start right at 1, but the rain should be more or less over by mid-afternoon. A 4:00 start seems ideal from all sides (good chance to be done by sundown) and unlikely to encounter any weather issues.

I dont see why they wouldnt play tomorrow night. I respect that they are trying to respect a holiday, but if weather forces the issue, its not like the tickets arent already sold.

Hateful, hateful autumn rain.
Mookie needs one more stolen base to make the 30/30 club (first time for him). JD needs to gain 2 points in BA so he and Mookie (that guy again) can be only the fifth or sixth pair of teammates ever to hit 30+ HR and .330+ in the same season. Not much else to play for. More team wins I guess.

Xander getting 100 RBI would be cool.

(YES I KNOW RBI IS A FUNCTION OF OTHER PLAYERS DOING THEIR JOBS AHEAD OF YOU AND DOES NOT NECESSARILY MEAN YOU HAD A GOOD SEASON, ETC. ETC.)

Thursday was a scheduled off day, unfortunately the O's have a game against Houston already scheduled.

Doubleheader Wednesday or just play one less game??
The announcement I saw earlier said doubleheader tomorrow.

What I don't understand is that the game really has no implications on the rest of the season. The Red Sox' position is secure (#1 record in MLB). The Orioles have nothing to play for, they're locked into the #1 draft spot next June. Why are they bothering to squeeze it in?

I think the default is "get all the games played." If today was the last game of the series, etc., they wouldn't reschedule it.

Red Sox should ask for permission to play it next Tuesday or Wednesday. To delay his firing Buck would go along, but all the O's players already have plane reservations.

what's wrong with October 1st?

And the O's players have plane reservations because who wants to stay in Baltimore.

It's closer to 150 I believe. But either way, it's slightly bittersweet for me. Regular season starts during tax season for me and then I end up coaching from mid-April to the start of August. Basically 5 days a week on the field with the team, so MLB time is limited until then. After that, it's full Red Sox mode for me until the end of the year. It's always a big change when ball season is officially over

This is the only thing that sucks. I won’t get to watch the 2018 Red Sox ever again. This team gave me so much enjoyment this year.

DITTO . So much fun reading the sardonic, savvy, and even the stupid commentary. I miss everyone. Especially Sprowl, the Rev and the moment when the Nip was in the house end of Series.

They’re only 2 games into the Japan Series, with the Hiroshima Toyo Carp leading Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks 1-0-1...and the Arizona Fall League goes until November 17.

Winter ball in the Dominican is well underway, too.

Baseball never goes away...

Opening day 149 days away
Good that they wrapped it up Sunday, making for 2 or 3 days more days to rest up for next year. Hey, some people think one reason it’s so hard to repeat is the extra grind playing all of October, on top of the six months of regular season. Every little bit helps.

Such an advantage to have them start after the US like that. Sox will be well-rested and able to set the rotation against the (likely) Carp. I like our chances in the Amazon 'True' World Series!

(or am I getting ahead of myself?)
