Cards - Dodgers off to an interesting start. Grichuk (part of the Freese trade) goes deep in the first.
No one and I mean no one saw that coming!

Kershaw in the post season not great so far. I told my wife just now that I'm happy about all of our RS guys performed in the post season like they should. I know somebody will come back with someone that didn't.  :)

Matt Clement, did it myself. But, 3 titles, so who gives a shit.

Is that the corpse of Larry King sitting behind home plate, blue shirt, suspenders and hat at the Dodgers game?

Holy shit. Fox Sports 1 has about a five second delay as opposed to MLB TV.

Pete Kozma is in because he's a postseason performer? They just mean because he was there, right? Because I fondly recall his "performance."

Larry King daydreaming? Where is he looking?
Praying to God to finally "bring him home.".  He's rather frightening looking next to his wife.

I wonder whether Trevor Rosenthal could literally throw a fastball through Larry King's concave translucent chest.  Admittedly, I am a weird dude.

Hudson v. Jordan ZImmermann tomorrow.  That one could be ugly.
Except Lars' and Spaceman's team has a way in the postseason. What can it be? Bochy? Someday, like sabermetrics happened in the 90s(?) they'll be able to quantify manager contribution. Maybe have to hook electrodes to players' heads. Maybe it's mostly a clubhouse, behind the scenes thing. I think it is Bochy, somehow.

So, is Washington a good enough hitting team for us to say that Peavy has righted his ship?

Peavy credits mechanical adjustments:

"Peavy’s numbers changed dramatically after the trade.
  • Peavy with Boston: 124 IP, 4.72 ERA, 9.5 H/9, 3.3 BB/9, Red Sox went 5-15 in his starts
  • Peavy with San Francisco: 78.2 IP, 2.17 ERA, 7.4 H/9, 1.9 BB/9, Giants went 8-4 in his starts
Bochy dismissed the idea that moving to the National League changed Peavy’s fortunes, noting that he’s been pitching well enough to succeed anywhere. According to Peavy, the Giants’ coaching staff deserves some credit for correcting his mechanics.
“Rags just mentioned some things and really Gardy as well. I talked to all of them. These guys saw me when I was young. They have a neat perspective of me when I was here facing them a lot. I kind of made my way about (the majors) with some injuries, so you kind of do some things different. But you want to get back to those core values, and I think some of the stuff that they said has made me better. I can’t thank them enough for that. Hard work as well, we’ve worked hard since I’ve been here with everybody, Groesch, Carl, it’s been a group effort,” said Peavy, who explained what part of his delivery he worked on with Dave Righetti and Mark Gardner.
“Just really staying on line. I was really getting around the ball, I felt, there in Boston. I had some stuff that I was battling leg-wise, just some stuff that’s kind of nagging. It’ll cause you, without even knowing, make some mechanical adjustments without even knowing, just protecting your body. I was really getting around the ball in Boston. I feel like I’m behind the ball and getting over it. My biggest thing is my line to the plate.”

So that's a new pitching coach we need to go along with a new hitting coach. Noted.
I find myself agreeing, which is stunning because Farrell was a pretty successful pitching coach at one point.

Mark Gardner, the second pitching coach in SF, should go somewhere else. He's stuck behind Righetti, who may be the best in the business. Make him an offer he can't refuse. Although, posts above did say Peavy had some stuff with his legs. But, the SF pitching coaches always get raves.

Listening to WLAC (due to MLBTV blackout) and I think it's Vin Scully doing the PBP, on his own.  Can anyone confirm?

I'd say he gets to spend a lot less time with the pitchers with the extra responsibilities of manager.
