Does Theo get a waiver for the 5 year wait for the HOF if the Cubs win?

He would have done the impossible in 2 cities

I'm favoring the Cubs because I always root for the team with the least amount of recent success.

And I'm just tired of the "perfect" Cardinals and their soulless inevitability

Go Patriots!

Exactly!

I should have said that -- once my team is eliminated --  I always root for the team with the least amount of recent success.

It's really hard to imagine the Cubs 'pen shutting the Cards down the rest of the way.  They need runs.

I'm pulling pretty hard for the Cubs here, and losing that lead sucked.  But as a Sox fan, being able to watch playoff baseball and not have a huge knot in your stomach is pretty nice.  Lazily sipping a few beers and enjoying this game.

Don't agree. He just gets excited about anything exciting.
I meant before the hit the announcer was saying what a spot for a guy who isn't supposed to be able to hit (paraphrasing) and wouldn't it be something if he became a hero here (paraphrasing more). I don't care for announcers that use what ifs in advance. The A's announcers are always doing that, like "what if Stephen Vogt hit a HR here off Uehara like he did the last time the Red Sox were here..."

The twenty something ballbag Cubs fans with the backward caps are all fired up "YEAH, OUT at the plate and we're tied baby!"

The sixty something old lizzard Cubs fans shoehorned into their large "Santo" jerseys are crushed "great, out at the plate BUT NOW WE'RE TIED!"

Good one. I remember in 2004, after a few teenage Red Sox fans were interviewed after the series, some commentator said he wanted to hear from a fan who was 70.

"Wouldn't it be amazing if a utility guy like Brock Holt got a big hit here to win the game. Earlier in the season he had been hitting well, and even hit for the cycle against the ***, but lately he has seemed to run out of gas. If he got a hit here against ***, it would be a great coup for a guy who is known more for his ability to play seven positions than for his bat."

Yay, Rizzo! (Another sad result of not re-signing Beltre.)

They couldn't find anyone that age, they all dropped dead from heart attacks.

I got to see the Cubs at Wrigley in August. So that's my reasoning. Go Cubbies!

When it's all said and done, that Rizzo trade is going to make "Ruth sold to the Yankees" look like "Sparky Lyle for Danny Cater."
