Regardless of how this NLCS goes, Cubs' window of contention has opened up early with this season
A little tough to envision anybody sweeping the Mets with those pitchers.ifmanis5 said:I hope the Royals sweep the Mets.
All I'm saying is, don't let us win tonight, because then we've got Lester, then Arietta, then the tomato can who pitched tonight..............ah never mind, we're screwed.soxhop411 said:Perhaps the cubs can pull a 04 Sox?
because that would be amazing?

It would be both New York teams blowing 3-0 leads against the 2 most "cursed" teams. But the 0-3 comeback belongs to the Red Sox in MLB and I never want to sharesoxhop411 said:Perhaps the cubs can pull a 04 Sox?

It would be tough to sweep this pitching staff. But I like the Royals' chances of winning the Series.ifmanis5 said:I hope the Royals sweep the Mets.
Hammel is scheduled to go. Be interesting to see if they'll change that. Although someone beside Lester and Arrieta are going to have to win a game sometime if the Cubs are going to come back.shawnrbu said:Is Lester going on 3 days rest tomorrow?
I mean, ANYONE has to win a game at this point.Bob Montgomery's Helmet Hat said:Hammel is scheduled to go. Be interesting to see if they'll change that. Although someone beside Lester and Arrieta are going to have to win a game sometime if the Cubs are going to come back.
I think it's more likely that he goes bullpen game tomorrow--Hammel starting with an insanely quick hook. The bullpen went 5 tonight, but no one threw as many as 20 pitches.shawnrbu said:I'd expect something outside the box from Maddon in an elimination game. He pretty much went with a bullpen game in Game 4 against the Sox in 2013 and it almost worked.
I'd roll the dice with Lester in 4, Arrieta in 5, hope you get lucky in 6 and that way you have both Lester and Arrieta available for multiple innings in Game 7 if all goes as planned.

Yeah, I've been thinking about how to answer that one. I was going to go with "officiate a lesbian wedding," but yours is probably the better way to go.E5 Yaz said:

I wonder if any Cubs congratulate any of the Mets about going to the World Series during the pregame on the field tomorrow.

Depends on whether or not good pitching gets you going.Arroyo Con Frijoles said:Do the Mets really deserve capital letter-level excitement

In their first seven postseason games, the Mets have thrown 413 pitches at 95 mph or faster, according to pitch-tracking data maintained by the website Baseball Savant. That’s around 41% of their total pitches, far more than any other team.
Since 2008, when such data became available, no team has thrown more than 29% of their pitches at such blistering speed in a single postseason.
In terms of pure speed off the mound, the Mets have been in a class of their own all season long. They threw 22% of their pitches during the regular season at 95 mph or above, according to Baseball Savant. No other team in the majors threw more than 15%.
