Lester will go for Cubs, Freeland on short rest for the Rockies.

8pm, ESPN with everyone's favorite analysts, Mendoza and A-Rod.

Moving the Line
ESPN2 will have a stats-based and focused commentary with Statcast's (and personal favorite) Mike Petriello in the booth. Personally, that's my listen. Can't wait to see how they do this, in a genuinely good way.

Speaking of Lester...how much more work does he need to do in order to receive legit HOF consideration? Career numbers:

177-98 (.644), 3.50 era, 1.25 whip, 8.3 k/9

From b-ref:

Black Ink
Pitching - 8 (315), Average HOFer ≈ 40
Gray Ink
Pitching - 143 (109), Average HOFer ≈ 185
Hall of Fame Monitor
Pitching - 96 (108), Likely HOFer ≈ 100
Hall of Fame Standards
Pitching - 37 (93), Average HOFer ≈ 50
JAWS
Starting Pitcher (152nd):
43.8 career WAR / 35.0 7yr-peak WAR / 39.4 JAWS
Average HOF P (out of 63):
73.4 career WAR / 50.1 7yr-peak WAR / 61.8 JAWS

Clearly he's not in yet, but he's just 34. If he can go another 5 strong years, he could get up to 250+ wins, which would be huge. If he ends up with 250 wins, a .600+ winning percentage (these things matter to HOF voters), and an era around 3.50, there are at least a dozen starting pitchers already in the HOF that his career numbers would line up with. Plus he's won three World Series rings, and been the ace of the staff in two of those three championships (2013 with Boston, 2016 with the Cubs). To top it off, his postseason resumé is amazing: 9 wins, 2.55 era, 7.5 k/9 over 25 games.

Working with this ESPN2 Statcast broadcast.

Blackmon had a 0.8 WAR and signed a 100mm contract?! I like this all ready

I know it's Lester, but LHP getting that six-inches-off-the-plate call against righties without ever having to throw anything resembling a strike will never not annoy the shit out of me.

It's sinister, it's gauche, and it's not right.

Is the Statcast broadcast dark or is this Wrigley?

edit: switching back and forth it looks like they are doing something different with the cameras or something. ESPN much brighter it seems

Not only that, but Zobrist has never had a .818. Career high is .948 in 2009, then .848, .844, .831, .822, .817, 809.
ESPN had him at .818 for this season until about a minute ago, wonder if it was that until game 163 and it took them longer than everyone else to update it.
