But why has St. Louis co-opted a song about West Virginia?
If I remember correctly, they played it during a time out or review about halfway through their long winning streak earlier in the year. It was a national game, and the announcers made a point to mention it sounded cool, and they immediately took to doing it every game.

The second someone likes something about St. Louis on a national level, the people here do their best to ruin it real fast. I don't love it, but St. Louis is still home.

Why do sports teams across the US play "I'm Shipping Up to Boston?"

Cause it's a FUCKING banger.

I’m a St. Louisian. PM me where you’re at.
And agree...Gloria in particular is unique and has completely lit this town on fire. Good back story.

That’s really cool. I was thinking wow that’s a random song there must be a story behind it.

Watching game 7’s in other series when your team had already advanced is really cool. You get just enough drama to make it exciting but not enough stress that you really care.

Who was the Bruin back in 2011 (I think) playoffs who made a point of coming out of the zone and getting off the ice so he wasn’t offside? Would have been in OT I think because I remember it being the end they shoot at even periods

What a terrible look for hockey. That is everything awful about replay. Had no impact on the play, ticky rack bullshit in a game 7.

It was Seguin or Ryder I think. I know the exact goal you’re talking about and can’t place it.

It was game 7 against Vancouver. I think it was Seguin on a Recchi rush.

Did anyone else see a conclusive angle showing his skate entirely in the zone? From every one I saw I couldn’t tell if it was touching the blue line or not. In which case the goal should stand.

They have GOT to do something about that rule, and soon. They are going to lose fans over it.

And this is as someone who wants the Sharks to win, because going to a Bruins finals game out here would be awesome.

I remember that one but could have sworn there was one on a goal too. But I’m drawing a blank.

I’m certain Ryder was the one, and it might’ve been Marchand’s goal in the 2nd of Game 7 in Vancouver.

Edit: it was Ryder carrying in, and Kelly and Seguin hustled off to keep him onside.

Yep thank you. I was thinking of the Recchi rush but it was definitely the Marchand goal. I knew Ryder was involved too. Good call.

If that's the only replay they have, was there really enough? I'm only watching on 120" screen so maybe the edges are fuzzy

Zone entry 8:16, goal at 7:47. So almost 30 seconds of zone time and yet it could have been called back

No league is more self-defeating than this one. The NFL takes a lot of crap for some inscrutable BS but it at least mostly comes from a desire to get things right. And NFL officials have a much tougher job with 22 guys on a much larger field of play, all of whom are doing different things, and all of whom can be called for any number of infractions.

The NHL otoh schemes up ways to take goals off the board or put players in the box in ways nobody except the league itself was ever asking for.

Good god was Eddie O such a waste of life in that series.

Never gets old watching Vancouver give as much space to Marchand along the boards as they would to the Queen. Of course despite being butter soft they were still somehow super dirty.

Anyway, my point was shitty rule or not it’s the little details. Vancouver’s door is in the o zone too. But Seguin busted his ass and was aware enough to get to the neutral zone and hop the boards. He slowly stepped through the door and cost his tram a goal.

And that's really a shame as it's a great sport, a tremendous sport to watch live, it's playoffs are second to none, yet casual fans see pucks go out of play, fall back into play and result in a goal, ticky tack goalie interference calls where a player stumbles into the goalie and a goal gets waved off, or a goal called back because of a piss poor rink design where the door should be three feet further up and think what in the Christ is going on.

This is 100% true. It drives me up a wall when a forward lazily changes in the zone like that for no reason. Have some general awareness.

That said I’m still not sure he was actually offside.
