Let's see what we think about the NHL this year. NHL.com did these among their 20 beat writers. Nobody picked the Bruins to win the East. 1 had them in 1st in Atlantic, 2 in 2nd, 11 in 3rd, 4 with a wild card, and 2 picked them to miss the playoffs.

Atlantic
1. Tampa
2. Boston
3. Toronto

Metro
1. Washington
2. Philadelphia
3. NY Islanders

WC
1. Pittsburgh
2. Florida

Central
1. Colorado
2. St. Louis
3. Dallas

Pacific
1. Vegas
2. SJ
3. Calgary

WC
1. Winnipeg
2. Nashville

Eastern Conference winner: Boston
Western Conference winner: Colorado
Stanley Cup winner: Boston

Bruins-related predictions
Top goal scorer: Marchand, 35
Top in points: Pastrnak 94
Rask GAA: 2.30
Bruins point total: 105

I think it’s going to be a bit of a slog for the Bruins to start the year and they don’t end up climbing out of the 3 hole this time.

The Fourth Period did their predictions. Everyone picked Tampa to win the Atlantic. Local guy Shawn Hutcheon picked the Bruins to win the Cup. Two guys picked Rask for the Vezina.

Yahoo has Boston #2 in the power rankings, behind Tampa Bay.

I think the Bruins used up whatever luck they had last year in a great run. Still a solid team but I'm thinking they won't get by Tampa this year.

Top goal scorer: Pastrnak, 45 (some injury will keep him under 50)
Top in points: Marchand, 101
Rask GAA: 2.60 (a little bit of a set back)
Bruins point total: 98

I've prepared myself for a disappointing season and an easy out in Round 1 of the playoffs. Hope I'm wrong.
