I know all’s fair in love and war, but the NFL going after the NBA on a day (Christmas) that has been a long tradition for them is kind of scummy.

As mentioned above, it's particularly indefensible given that Christmas is on a Wednesday.

This Jets schedule would be hilarious. MNF against the Niners, then a short week v. the Titans, then ANOTHER short week v. the Pats? Just what a 40 year-old QB needs.
And then another four games in 18 days Weeks 6-9, if it's true. The least the league can do is have a bye somewhere in between a team's MNF and TNF games.

This makes Pats-Bengals Week 1 very likely as all the other Bengals home opponents are either officially or unofficially spoken for that week and/or their date in Cincinnati.
At times this feels like an SAT question: the NFL schedule is to the 2024 Pats season as the the order of deck chairs was to the Titanic.

Edit:

At least those of us subjecting ourselves to this Patriots season will get to see the throwbacks for at least Rams @ Pats, it seems from this tweet:

Seattle-related TwitterX indicates Seahawks @ Patriots in Week 2
Seattle schedule so far (allegedly):
Week 1 - vs. Denver
Week 2 - @ Pats
Week 3 - vs. Miami
Week 4 - @ Detroit
Week 5 - vs Giants
Week 6 - vs. 49ers (TNF)
Week 7 -
Week 8 - vs. Buffalo
Week 9 - vs. Rams
Week 10 -
Week 11 -
Week 12 - vs. Arizona
Week 13 - @ Jets
Week 14 -
Week 15 - vs. Green Bay (SNF)
Week 16 - vs. Minnesota
Week 17 - @ Chicago
Week 18 -

Bye still TBD (my guess, week 11), Games to be assigned - @ ARI, @ LAR, @ SF, @ ATL
Figuring week 7 is @ATL, week 10 @ARI, week 14 @ LAR, week 18 @ SF

Games on ESPN and TNT are behind a paywall and ESPN has been airing games since the 90s.
Yeah, NFL games being paywalled has been a thing since 1987 when ESPN started carrying SNF

for the last decade we’ve been hearing endlessly about how people are cord cutting and the cable model is outdated, people want the ability to pick and choose what services they pay for etc. This is the predictable end result. You can pick and choose which sports games you want to pay for and view.

It would be shocking if the NFL doesn’t continue to parcel out games to different steaming services moving forward. SNF on peacock, Thursday on Amazon prime, Saturdays on Netflix, Friday holidays on Paramount+, NFC playoff games on Hulu, AFC playoff games on Roku and so forth. Every streamer is going to want a piece of the NFL pie and the NFL will almost certainly want to maximize their dollars by selling the packages off separately.

I didn't click through. My bad. His tweet just showed as link.
Sure, I get it, just like my invitation to your birthday party got lost in the mail...

Anyway, I know it's only been a few seasons of being mediocre/bad, and it's ironic since the total history of the organization prior to Brady was so bad, but re the uniforms I'm hoping the Pats are going to ditch the post-Brady unis and either return to the Brady era uniforms, the Bledsoe era uniforms, or incorporate the red throwbacks much more often.

(PS How come sometimes my Xitter links these days don't show up as a preview?)

Change the x in the link to twitter. If that doesn't automatically convert, use the INSERT button (the 3 dots), then click MEDIA.

Chargers with the Sims were clear winners, IMO. Nice little 28-3 dig against ATL, Harrison Butker in the kitchen, and a T Swift appearance. Good stuff.
I saw Baker Mayfield in the kitchen (baking, I presume). Did I miss Harrison Butker? That would be savage.

That is Butker in the Kitchen near the end

Who's watching free games from an antenna these days in any context?
Probably a decent amount of people honestly, a lot of people use various streaming setups that don't have local channels and just throw up a small antenna if they live in a city.

Though I think what people really mean is that they don't like that you have to pay for a number of different separate accounts to get all the primetime games, where you used to just get one thing.

Why is it scummy? These are professional sports leagues competing for viewers. I’m not a huge NBA fan and I am fucking pumped that there are going to be NFL games on Christmas now. Why should the NFL just give the NBA sportsfan eyeballs on a holiday when millions of people are sitting at home with their families watching sports?

All of that said, if they have teams playing on Sunday who have to turn around and play again on a Wednesday, that is really shitty. But its the NFL and as a fan hopelessly addicted to the product I begrudgingly accept that the league doesn’t give a shit about the players. I hope they give the teams playing on Wednesday a bye the week before but I wouldn’t be shocked if they don’t.

That’s the time of the season post CFB conference championships where the NFL regularly schedules Saturday games so I would assume teams that play on that Saturday 12/21 would be the ones lined up to play on Christmas Wednesday.
Or, if they were real nice, it would be one of the teams that played on the previous Thursday; but I have less confidence in that.

They’re pushing another league around just because they can. It would be like if the NFL intentionally scheduled the draft to go head to head with MLB opening day. I don’t think it’s a moral failing or anything, but I do think it’s cool when each sport has some traditional moments on the calendar to itself and the idea that the leagues coordinate and respect each other seems nice.
