Was thinking about this today... for me, the Dolphins are the Pats' biggest rivals within the division. So I wonder about what the biggest rival is for each team. I'm going to stick to intra-divisional rivalries, because those make the most sense to me. I'll put in what I *think* is true, but I could use some help with the rest, because honestly, I just don't know what teams are some of these franchises' biggest rivals.

AFCE
NE - Mia
NYJ - NE
Mia - ?
Buf - ?

AFCN
Pit - Bal
Bal - Pit
Cle - Pit
Cin - ?

AFCS
Ten - ?
Ind - ?
Hou - ?
Jax - ?

AFCW
LV - Den (I feel like the Broncos and Raiders are their respective biggest rivals)
Den - LV
KC - LV (?)
LAC - ?

NFCE
NYG - Phi (?)
Dal - Was
Was - Dal
Phi - NYG (?) Do I have these right?

NFCN
GB - Chi
Chi - GB
Min - GB (?)
Det - ?

NFCS
TB - NO
NO - TB
Car - ?
Atl - ?

NFCW
SF - Sea
Sea - SF
Ari - ?
LAR - ?

I don't even know if I've gotten these ones right (that I've filled in). Just my guess. I'd love feedback from you guys about these rivalries.

The Patriots are basically half of the NFL's biggest rivals. Rivalries in the NFL tend to take place more when both teams happen to be good and battling in the playoffs; as opposed to a long-standing geographic or even divisional opponents, with a few notable exceptions. I remember lurking on Chiefs Planet after a Pats game and they were referring to the Pats as "our biggest rivals" which was hilarious because KC is like, the Patriots 8th biggest rival, behind Steelers, Ravens, Colts, Giants, Jets, Dolphins, etc.

For people of my generation, people who never saw Marino play, the Dolphins are not real rivals, just a team we place twice a year. I would say the Steelers would be the biggest rivals; I get the greatest joy in kicking their ass due to their fanbase being obnoxious.

Atlanta-New Orleans is a pretty big rivalry among their respective fan bases.

Seattle division rivalries definitely go SF, then LA, then Arizona
Outside the division: Packers are at the top and I don't think there's anyone really close (next would probably be Panthers, Patriots, Steelers). The old AFC West rivalries don't really exist any more, although if i had to rank them I'd go Raiders, Broncos, Chiefs, Chargers.

To me the Fish are the Jets main rival in the division but since the Pats were so good and incestuous with the Jets for a while Parcells/Belichick/Mangini that rivalry took over.

Long-time resident of Rochester, NY (next-door to Buffalo), and I can say with some confidence that the Bills fans dislike the Patriots more than any other team. If that makes them the Bills' "rivals", so be it.

The answer would have been different 30 years ago, but that was then ...

Heres how it works in the AFC-West: The Raiders - Chiefs - Broncos all seem to hate each other equally, with everyone little brothering the Chargers, who have no titles and no fans. All three fan bases take over whatever stadium the Chargers play in and refuse to take them seriously. When two Raiders - Broncos - Chiefs fans meet each other they trade insults till they get around to agreeing about how much they hate the other team not represented and making fun of the Chargers.

Pats fan since '93, so never really cared about the Fins or Bills - Squish the Fish was before my time, and the Bills starting their period in the wilderness as NE got good. It's Jets and Steelers in some order. I dislike the Raiders more than the Bills, I think.

The AFCS is a really weird one. I guess NE is #1 for Indianapolis. There's never been two teams in the div genuinely contending at the same time which I think is what made SF/Sea into a thing, and is why the NFC East mutual disdain between all four is so strong. Have two AFC South teams ever actually met in the playoffs beyond WC weekend?

Miami-Buffalo was a big rivalry back in the Marino/Kelly era.

The 4 NFC East teams were always big rivalries amongst each other, so you could put all 6 combinations. Back in the days of 3 divisions, the St. Louis Cardinals would be on the outside looking in.
