He was a McNair binkie was the word, he was still the pick this offseason even after they pushed Easterby to the back. Lot of good reporters said that McCown had the job until Flores filed suit, and it was decided to wait a year. This was after they hired Culley allegedly with no intention of keeping him past a year. Maybe Caserio convinces McNair otherwise (though not sure Caserio's job is 100% secure) but McNair is going to want McCown.
Thanks. Such a disgusting org. I hope they hire McCown and continue to suck.

Man, Caserio completely fucked up taking that job. Between O'Brien trading Hopkins, Easterby Rasputin-ing McNair, Watson being an all time creep and whatever has been going on with the coaches the last few seasons, he’s had an absolutely terrible situation the entire time.

Is it just me or is the NFL overdoing it yet again trying to figure out this neutral site stuff for the potential AFCCG? I mean, does Buffalo really need special dispensation
McVay should leave. The Rams are set up horribly for years, which will ruin his golden boy status.

He can go to the booth for a few years, start a family if desired, then come back as a knight on a shining horse into an ideal environment. It’s a no brainer.
I am sympathetic to the situation his wife is going through but, man, McVay should get at least a little heat for all that swagger being built on loading up a team with terrible contracts to win a single successful postseason run (that they tried to give away at multiple junctures) before it all fell apart. “Cap is crap” my foot.

The roster is still talented enough, it's not like the cap prevented them from putting together a competent squad this year. It's a bad coaching job coupled with Stafford being either unavailable or horrific due to injury.

I mentioned this in the other thread, but they needed to give Buffalo a reason to take Sunday's game seriously (assuming) KC beat Vegas.

Man, if playing for #3 wasn’t motivation enough I don’t know what is. I’d never seen players this emotional following an opening kickoff return…..I’m guessing that had nothing to do with playing for home field.

In short ... yes, Buffalo does need special dispensation. If they had won the cancelled game, they would have been the No. 1 seed. The neutral site makes up for that potential inequity.

Agreed. And if the league gave the Chiefs home field for the championship game, and Buffalo went in there and lost for the 3rd consecutive playoffs, the uproar would be insane.

Their field looked like shit the other night. The one in Phoenix, which is of the same type, also is/was suspect.
I don't think Phoenix is a good candidate, since they are already starting to set it up with Super Bowl logos and stuff. Maybe they wouldn't care, but seems unlikely.

Got good word that Tua will be starting this weekend for the Dolphins. It’s already leaked and reflected in some line movement.

Isn’t he still in concussion protocol? The team has not practiced this week, so I don’t think they could have cleared him yet.
I’m only passing on info that historically has been 100% accurate from a betting syndicate with countless inside sources, not even 99%. It’s the NFL….is there truly a protocol when it comes to big games?

Do you have to be at _team_ practices to advance in the concussion protocol? Looking at one article the five stages are below--and only the fifth one would seem to require a team practice.

  • Phase 1: Symptom Limited Activity – Light aerobic exercise and can attend team meetings, if tolerable.
  • Phase 2: Aerobic Exercise – Over 20 minutes of running on a treadmill or riding a stationary bike while under direct supervision of the team’s athletic trainer.
  • Phase 3: Football Specific Exercise – Introduction of individual non-contact drills such as strength training and cone drills.
  • Phase 4: Club-Based Non-Contact Training – Participation in all non-contact drills, including position-specific activities such as throwing or catching.
  • Phase 5: Full Football Activity/Clearance – Full participation in practice with any restrictions.

Good clarification - he could in theory progress to Phase 5 outside the context of a formal practice.

Someone needs to get in this guys ear. I get the competitive juices are flowing, but he’s really putting himself at risk. This is shaping up to be one of the more obvious WTF was he thinking decisions.

Pure guess but maybe those making the final decision gave the wink to the source that Tua was going to be cleared based on what they know. Either way I trust the source. Same source had Hartman going to ND before he even entered the portal.

Hopkins may be on the trading block.

Continuing the trend started last year of high-profile WR's looking to take their talents elsewhere.

Hopkins' contract holds a no-trade clause, and he'd have to approve any deal.

The 30-year-old is set to earn $19.45 million in base salary and carries a $30.75-million cap hit for the 2023 season, per Spotrac.

Line moved from Dolphins +10.5 to Dolphins +9.5 or even +9 in some places, which to me indicates more confidence that Bridgewater will start in place of Thompson than Tua.
My numbers were 13.5 w/Thompson, 10 w/Bridgewater and 7.5 w/Tua. I’d estimate my error margin closer to .5 than to 1. The opener of 10.5 didn’t reflect that Thompson was ever an option as Bridgewater was almost ready to go last week and even active as the backup vs Jets. The timing of the move in the market also aligned with the leak and no mention at all of Bridgewater (likely bc it’s already baked into the number that he’s ready to play). I received the Tua news at 3:43 and line movement from 10 to 9 hit at 3:47p est at one sharp offshore book while it moved from 10 to 9.5 at 3:38p then to 9 also at 3:47.

Thanks for lending your expertise. I thought the line movement from Bridgewater to Tua would be greater, but I guess the uncertainty is baked in.

This a thousand times. He should not play again this year and should evaluate what to do moving forward. I know it's his dream and the NFL and all, but we are talking long range damage. Plus he's not pennyless.

He’s going to have a lot better chance of recovering if he doesn’t take a jarring hit until next September. I’m glad the protocol caught this.
Not sure what the protocol “caught” outside of exhibiting continuing symptoms. It sounds like if he weren’t he be back in there.

Protocol is full of subjective assessments, it’s the playoffs, and there would historically have been pressure for him to play (either personal or from the team) and it seems things were trending in that direction. I am glad it’s thorough and layered enough that it led to this outcome.

Relax. I’m sure there was a real belief Tua would start, in fact the line moved significantly, which would indicate money flowing this way because of it. No need to be an asshole to someone trying (and often) helping our community.

Appreciate it. Those words are more kind than mine were going to be. Here’s the thing, as I showed with the timeline above, the information was absolutely real as these sources are well taken care of for their work by the syndicate…..and group buying moved an NFL number 1.5 points within minutes. There simply is not ever bad or misleading information from these sources……my guess, as I alluded to at the time, was that the Dolphins had every intention of clearing Tua and having him out there which was the information as he hadn’t yet completed the protocols. The fact that he’s not after being tested would seem to be extremely concerning for him moving forward.

You said the syndicate was accurate to 100%. Not even 99%, 100%. A perfect hit rate. Never wrong.

And it was 100% wrong. "Ohhhhh, the money flow of the inside syndicate dictates Miami would do this and I'm sure I'm right because it's never wrong." and it all starts to sound a little like a conspiracy theory.

You made a claim and said it was 100% right and it was 100% wrong. It was the definition of misinformation. Thanks for the help, I guess.

And thank you for adding value to the discussion. “I guess”. Can we move on now?

How long is McVay going to hold the Rams coaching situation hostage?

Is it much more likely to be Tua-related, or to Bridgewater over Thompson?

The market expects it to be Thompson from my numbers. 13-13.5 is Skylar, 10.5-11 Teddy. I have Tua worth +4 pts > Teddy and Teddy +3 over Skylar. The (somewhat) key numbers of 10 and 14 add a little resistance whereas the 7 is much more important and I don’t think it even would have gotten below 7.5 with Tua for that reason. A book would get flooded with Bills money had they taken it down to 7 with Tua….so even if they had Teddy at 10.5 it likely never gets below 7.5 imho.

That’s not how it works my friend. You have it backwards.

The money didn’t dictate what Miami would do. The information of what Miami was preparing and expecting to do is why their money moved the market. They were not expecting Tua to not pass protocol.

I know the manager at the Steak House, he says “Hey HRB, I’ve got a cut of that best steak the world has even seen coming in again tomorrow and I invested good money in it. I want you to get here at 5pm to enjoy it with us and bring your buddies Red and JohnMD with you so they can enjoy it too, I know they liked it before. We go to the Steak House at 5pm the next day and he tells us “HRB my man, something went wrong. We paid for the best cut but when it got here it was bad. We can’t serve it.”

Red’s like, “That sucks but we appreciate the info and trying to hook us up but shit happens. Thank you for hooking us up all those other times in the Port Cellar.” Meanwhile, JohnMD in the middle of the street with all the other customers who are disappointed screaming at me like a jackass, “You lied!! It doesn’t matter all the other times we had that steak you’re Information this time was wrong!!”

Moral of the story….don’t be JohnMD.

I'm not a dolphins fan but as a human, I'm happy tua isnt being run out there this week.
I guess there are three takeaways here.

First some people aren't made to play football and some people rather randomly _really_ aren't made to play football and are just particularly susceptible to certain injuries.

Two the concussion protocol is clearly inadequate to the task--the second time he was cleared (after his long time away following the fencer's reaction) pretty clearly didn't Tua enough time away because he suffered the third concussion so quickly.

And third, as always, fuck the dolphins. Really just a consistently awful organization with an awful fanbase that supports their crappiness (Martin was a tattletail and Flores deserved to get fired and they did nothing wrong with Tua); in this case hopefully their recklessness with Tua's concussions only leads to them fucking up his football career and not the rest of his life.

EDIT: Sorry this is probably better for the dolphins thread.
