It does look horrible for sure. But why does it look horrible? He said it did so I assume he watched the trailer. If he watched the 2 minute trailer then taking 15 seconds to write out why he feels it is horrible is what we are looking for, similar to what DJ said in his followup post.

That isn't asking much.
Gotta be honest, this is ridiculous. You need to break down a Kevin James movie trailer to state an opinion on it? What are we doing here?

The playoffs are going to be beyond fucked up. It seems like it is almost a given that a team or multiple teams are going to be without key players who test positive, particularly if guys aren't getting boosted because it isn't required. The NFL is always a war of attrition in terms of player health come playoff time, but this is different, particularly if they are asymptomatic vaccinated players testing positive. I'm not saying the right move is to stop testing and just let players play, but if the Pats have to play a playoff game without Mac or Judon or something that is going to suck hard. Not sure there is a good answer, though. Fuck COVID.

That's rough for the Browns. They still have to play Green Bay but their other games are very winnable. Going to be tough to make the playoffs if they lose to Vegas.

It feels like the right move here would be to push the game to Monday/Tuesday and give the Browns a chance to get a few guys back. At the very least, Saturday should be off the table.

They'll still get monster numbers if they have a 2nd monday game. Or Tuesday all alone.
It'd have to be a Monday day game. Also note that the Browns play again on Saturday/Christmas against GB.

All the more reason to push as hard as possible for a bye. Not only is it usually a huge advantage, but the odds are higher than normal that a major player could be out in the wild care round when Omicron is likely peaking. While it's important to avoid that, you also could see a major competitor with an uphill battle.

It also feels like players should be wearing masks? At least in more situations (sidelines, locker rooms), if not on the field of play. Masks work, even if they are a pain in the ass.

I actually weirdly feel better about the Pats chances through the playoffs given the COVID chaos. Obviously losing Mac or Judon would be huge, but there are just fewer players on the team that feel irreplaceable relative to other top contenders with more stars and scrubs type rosters. And I feel much more confident that Bill has worked out who the 4th string long snapper and 7th string WR in the event of a mass wave of positive tests.

This may be true but if the Pats have a bunch of cases all at once and the team they are playing doesn't it probably isn't going to matter. I think someone said it upthread but getting everyone boosted is probably the biggest advantage for any team heading into the playoffs as it would seem to be the best way to avoid a large breakout of cases.

Man, the next two months are going to be insane for sports, especially for football, as this is the most important time for the season. Teams are going to lose a lot of players with the Omni bouncing around. You've got multiple teams facing issues right now, with the Browns currently being decimated.

It's hard to see how it gets better in the short term. I'm nervous.

Does getting boosted help reduce transmission? I don’t know the NFL protocols but it seems like they just test everyone regardless of vax status, so even vaxxed / asymptomatic players get ruled out if they test positive.

Cardinals’ WR DeAndre Hopkins is expected to miss the rest of the regular season with a sprained knee, but the team is hopeful to get him back at some point in the postseason, leagues sources tell me and
@JFowlerESPN
.

That's big news for the NFC leaders heading into the final 4 games and playoffs. With Hopkins hurt, the Cards take a hit on offense.

Its not clear how much worse the Browns can get on offense but they may give it a shot next weekend. If all these guys are out, this could be the worst offensive team fielded in an NFL game that I can remember.

The 49ers played the Packers last year while missing 8/11 starters on offense, including the QB, every skill position player, and their LT/best lineman, rolling out this lineup:

Nick Mullens QB
Jerick McKinnon RB
River Cracraft WR
Trent Taylor WR
Richie James WR
Ross Dwelley TE
Tom Compton OL
Daniel Brunskill OL
Laken Tomlinson OL
Justin Skule OL
Mike McGlinchey T

They did go 2-1 without Hopkins AND Murray, winning on the road at SF and SEA and losing at home to CAR.

They close at DET, vs. IND, at DAL, vs. SEA. Still have a decent shot at 3-1 at worst.

Wow, that sets a pretty high (low) standard for the Browns to beat. I think I've heard of maybe three of those guys.

Yea, he isn’t a player, but I love seeing Mahomes’ city finally turn on this guy. He is beyond insufferable. Living out in KC area during the chiefs run has been pretty obnoxious at times (we’ll always have the 2018 AFCCG), but I have been relieved to see Chiefs fans disown Mahomes’ GF/bro. How much longer before he’s not shown during the chiefs warmups/chiefs games?

As a communications/PR person these petty AF by businesses "responding" to posts with real or perceived slights kill me. No one, particularly a business, wins when they get into a flame war with an aggrieved customer. NEVER. Just let the people bitch about it on the internet and feel vindicated when their friends like their post. No response other than, sorry you had a bad experience, please contact us privately for further discussion about the issue, is ever productive.

It’s almost like not negotiating a vaccine mandate was a bad idea for all involved.
I have no idea what this has to do with anything.

All the Browns are vaccinated. Some are boosted. They have 20 guys out with Covid and coaches, on top of that, too. What would a mandate have done?

Kept unvaccinated people from other teams from infecting them.

All but one player in the NHL is vaccinated and they are more or less experiencing the same wave as the NFL. It ain’t a vaccine mandate issue.

I wonder if people are bringing it into the facilities from the outside. It’s possible players/staff are hanging out at bars/restaurants on their bye week or with family members who are unvaccinated.

As someone who has a 1 year old, I’m not going anywhere and I wear a mask everywhere I go which aren’t many places. My wife and I haven’t gone out for a meal indoors since this has started. But single, younger guys may think a lot differently which is their right but as we see their decisions carry consequences for the rest of their team.

There's been expanded testing since Thanksgiving. And i think the NFL and the PA are working on a different approach for vaccinated asymptomatic players testing positive. Or maybe only boostered players, as boosters have been shown to reduce transmissibility.

The vaccinated are not immune and can still catch and spread. While I agree that the unvaccinated within society can take their fair share, the mistake was laxing on simple, common sense measures (e.g. indoor masking for all).

It doesn't take an unvaccinated person to catch and bring it into a facility. But it does take a group of unmasked, close quartered people to spread. Masking wouldn't be a silver bullet, but certainly would have helped.

Masking for all is part of their updated protocols, I believe.
