The city of Buffalo has two major sports teams, the Bills and Sabres, that have over 110 seasons between them and has never seen a championship. Their fans are predominantly fatalistic and it will be interesting to see how they act if/when they do hoist the Cup or a Lombardi.
I won't pretend to know what baseball team they root for, but the closest (American) team to Buffalo is Cleveland. 70+ years without a title there.

I'm probably biased by some Buffalo fans I've befriended along the way, but they have a fatalism to their fandom which I can empathize with. It's not all that unlike Red Sox fans who remember what it was like pre-2004. The Bills fans I know fully expect their season to end the same way it always does: with pain and suffering. Of course, the ones I know are all old enough to have seen them lose four Super Bowls in a row, as well as the Music City Miracle (which they may get a chance to avenge this year). They're hoping for the best and planning for the worst, but I think they feel pretty good about their chances, all things considered. And they probably should. Their season likely will end in pain and suffering, because that's usually how it ends for everyone, but I think they've got as good a shot as anybody this year. It also seems like a real tough field. Other than maybe Cinci, it's a bunch of usual suspects that everybody thought would be in the mix. No easy outs.
I talked about this after the Bills beat the Pats here in Foxboro. I would rather attend 100 games at Foxboro with Bills fans in the stadium than 1 game at Foxboro with Jets or Dolphins fans. Jets fans are the absolute worst, and Dolphins fans have no idea what's going on. Bills fans are true fans of a loser franchise, and rarely talk shit, but know the game and are genuinely happy when their team wins, just like Pats fans pre-2001.

I’m in upstate NY and most of my friends are big Bills fans. They’re smart football fans, follow the draft closely, etc. They have really put up with me and our other friend that are Pats fans admirably. I’ll be happy for them if they the a Super Bowl.

There are jackasses in every fan base. I went with them to the 2008 Bills season opener. This was just as internet phones were starting so the news of Brady’s injury was spotty at best. Few dumbasses in the stands started chanted “ACL. ACL.” But a few others around me that could hear I was a Pats fan apologized and said hope he’s ok.

I’m with you. They have good fans. I had my Dad’s season tickets from his business through much of the late 70’s. For some reason we were always surrounded by busloads of Buffalo fans.
These guys would leave in the middle of the night and drink all the way to Foxboro. Needless to say there were always some fights. I had to bail out a buddy at the old Foxboro jail and all the busses would be lined up waiting for bail to post and head back to Buffalo. All handshakes and good wishes after everyone sobered up. Lots of Super bowl heartache. I would not mind seeing them get one.

I had a great friend from Hamburg in college who I lived with for three years (four, if you count that he was on my dorm floor freshman year) and he graduated a virgin (not by choice; well, his anyway). A month after college, he met a woman in a bar and was a father nine months later. The only time in my life that I've ever shot a gun was when I visited his mother's house in Hamburg. I shot at a Dunkin' Donuts cup and missed. That's all I got on Hamburg, NY.

Sports fans seem to have not learned a lesson after the Bryan Stow incident
Police are investigating the apparent beating of a San Francisco 49ers fan found severely injured in the parking lot of SoFi Stadium during Sunday’s NFC championship game against the Rams.

Daniel Luna, a restaurant owner from Oakland, remains hospitalized at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in what Inglewood police said was a medically induced coma.

Luna, 40, was discovered on the ground by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics in the stadium’s Lot L about 4 p.m., half an hour into the Rams-49ers contest, said Inglewood Police Lt. Geoffrey Meeks. Luna was wearing a San Francisco jersey and black pants, Meeks said.

Emergency room staff at Harbor-UCLA noted wounds suggesting Luna had been attacked and contacted Inglewood police later that night.

“They believe he suffered from an assault at the stadium to his upper body and facial area,” Meeks said. Detectives are working with stadium officials to determine what happened to Luna, he said.
“We are relying heavily on video to try to identify the people involved,” he said. “We are going to leave no stone unturned.”

I only just realized that the Kevin O'Connell being talked about in soon-to-be HC circles is the same guy that had a cup of coffee with the Patriots until rookie Brian Hoyer beat him out for a backup job back in the long-time-agos.

Yes, looking to join Kliff Kingsbury on the "formerly anonymous Brady backup to NFL head coach" path.

How you can forget his epic run as captain of the NYJets?
Ha. Unlike Kingsbury, though, the internet reminds me that O'C actually completed some real NFL passes. What I cant find is confirmation of a memory that BB had him return kicks (or otherwise special teams it) during the preseason in the hopes he'd turn into Jim Jensen.

Murray scrubs all references to Cardinals from his social media

after Sunday's Pro Bowl, Murray unfollowed the Cardinals on social media and removed all photos affiliated with the team on his Instagram account.
...

Murray has played out the first three years of his rookie contract with the Cardinals and has a fifth-year option by the team that will likely be exercised prior to the final year of his rookie deal. He has a cap hit of $11,386,841 for the 2022 season, but will be seeking that lucrative contract extension in the coming months.

Police: Alvin Kamara, others beat man unconscious, broke his eye socket (msn.com)

Kamara, who interviewed with police before his Sunday arrest, told police that the alleged victim called one of his friends ugly. Per the report, Kamara put his hands on the man's chest to prevent him from joining them on the elevator, then the man pushed Kamara's hands off of him. The man said he was then pushed, and that one of the men in Kamara's party punched him. Kamara didn't throw the first punch, according to the report, but he joined others in beating the alleged victim.
Kamara punched him eight times, including three blows that landed after the man hit the ground, per the report. The report states that the alleged victim did not hit Kamara or anyone else in his party.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Kamara if these charges are substantiated. He's a bigger star than others who have had these types of transgressions (Kareem Hunt, Ray Rice). If the Saints decide to cut him outright before June 1st, it's a $20.5M cap hit and actually costs them $6M against the cap. If he's cut after June 1, it would be a $14.5M cap hit but a net zero effect on the cap for 2022 and impact the cap in 2023.

I don't think they can cut him because he's too good of a player like Deshawn Watson and with their cap situation, they definitely can't cut him right away. He probably ends up sitting out a season like Watson, taking up a roster spot, especially if this isn't resolved by law enforcement before the season starts. He could be traded from the cap perspective but he'll be as radioactive as Watson and no one will touch him until the case is resolved.

I think the major difference here is Hunt and Rice were beating women. That's obviously not to excuse Kamara, but the optics are quite different. I'd suggest he might get a game or two.

Speaking of optics, I believe it's been reported that there is video evidence of this showing Kamara hitting the guy eight times. Three of those blows were after he was on the floor and then Kamara's group joined in. The shield is so fucked ATM there is no way Kamara gets off that easily. This could involve jail time. In no way shape or form am I suggesting (nor have you) that Watson isn't guilty of what he's been accused of, but to my knowledge no charges have been and there's no video tape off anything he's been accused of.

Apparently the whole thing is on video and Kamara personally hit the guy 8 times, 3 times on the ground.

A picture of the victim can be found at this link

Edit: I don't know how I missed the post directly above mine lol. Regardless, link confirming that there is video evidence of the whole incident and the face picture of the guy who was assaulted.

Well now we pretty much know everything. A video is worth a million words.

I like watching him RAC, but I hope he gets jail time.

Damn. That dude looks like a million bucks.

I doubt Kamara gets suspended. He’s too good. Plus, this isn’t a bad crime like hitting a woman on video or deflating footballs, it’s a victimless crime like hitting a woman off camera or breaking an infant’s arm or sexually harassing your cheerleaders.

Hey - speaking of football and Germany, WFT player apologies for saying he’d like to have dinner with “military genius” Hitler, perhaps to discuss Dunkirk and invading Russia.

Yeah, aside from the classic war on two fronts, letting the 6th army get surrounded/refusing to let them break out/250,000 men wiped out, using up the last of his reserves in the Watch on the Rhine offensive and ordering armies and divisions into action towards the end of the war that had already surrendered, he was a Wyle E Coyote super duper military genius.

I know that Mahomes' brother in particular is someone KC fans despise, what is the deal with him? Does he mouth off to the media a lot?
Among other things, he did a TikTok dance on the late Sean Taylor’s logo/number.

Link to the whole saga below. Rich Ohrnberger tweeted Mahomes was banning his fiance and brother from attending games because they’re a distraction. Mahomes quickly shot it down.

https://www.chron.com/sports/texans/article/Patrick-Mahomes-Brittany-Jackson-games-rumor-tweet-16930768.php
The thing that makes me think it’s true is Mahomes’ aggressive gaslighting in response, professing surprise and amusement at the reports of his fiancé and brother’s antics, with the “Wow you guys are creepy” comments. This is how a teenager reacts when they get called out for anything. Really Patrick? You can’t comprehend why people’s attention would be drawn to two massive attention whores?

If it really weren’t true, he wouldn’t have said anything and let their attendance next season discredit these reports.
