LA is just about over the hump with Covid cases and there’s five weeks until the SB. Why is this even a question?

Meh, they're doing due diligence to make sure their largest event isn't able to be played in front of fans because LA has traditionally been on the more restrictive side of Covid restrictions across the country. They prefer scrambling 5 weeks before the Super Bowl instead of 1 or 2 weeks. Best case scenario they wasted some people's time.

No chance. I know he lives for the drama, but I can't imagine him torpedoing his career and legacy like that.

But I hope it's true, if only to further highlight that Aaron Rodgers is the NFL Kyrie Irving. I mean, I completely believe it's a legitimate source if only because this would be par for the course with what Rodgers seems to think passes for good publicity these days - I'm sure he'd love if that dominates the conversation going into the playoffs.
I hope it's true. I hope it dominates the conversation, because that conversation will be almost entirely, "what a jackass." And while I understand that he and his ilk feed on being called "jackasses," I dont care. On balance, the world is better off knowing who the selfish jackass pricks are, even if its gives certain folks priapism. Its only too bad that the vast majority of the 60s Packers are dead. They would not only shit all over him, they may be the only group that could turn the current Packer fans against him.

I’m 100% rooting for GB now just to see this play out. Maybe the only thing that could unify the country is an NFL QB refusing to play in the SB. Rodgers could be our Joseph Welch moment.

If they are playing the Pats, and this happens, I’ll be the one with priapism!

ed: I realize this is a fantasy of course. But this is a pleasant fiction.

Well anyway the chances Rodger's isn't one and done are like only 20 percent so I'm not going to get my hopes up for this boycott scenario.

In theory, why not do it now? Only worth taking a stand if it’s the SB?
Maybe it's not a boycott as much as he expects to not be able to play in the game because he's unvaxxed?

Also he won't be tested again until after the CCG.

I was watching Boomer when they were discussing this. His radio partner think this was made up and sent to Boomer to see if he would read it on the radio.
The NFL would have no room to budge as they can't create an almost-annual event where a star player makes demands to agree to actually play in the SB.

Nice Gladiator pull!

What’s the reasoning even for him to sit out the SB after playing all season and in the playoffs?

Boomer is full blown member of the hot take industrial complex. This is story is almost certainly utter and complete bullshit. Rodgers is a narcissistic asshole. But he's not this stupid.

It would be like Rodgers to not deny this and let it feed his whole cancelled complex, then make the SB and act like nothing was ever reported in the first place. FWIW, I think the Cowboys are going to represent the NFC.

Texans extend Rex Burkhead deal thru 2022

"He's been Mr. Consistent for us," coach David Culley said last month. "He's a guy that's going to get north and south. He knows how to play."

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/33014305/sources-houston-texans-sign-rb-rex-burkhead-contract-extension-2022

Should teams want a running back who goes south?

Green-Ellis is always fighting for extra yardage and is one of the best north-and-south running backs that the NFL has to offer today.

After facing blowback - including a flat denial by Rodgers - for their nonsense Giannotti (and presumably Esiason) put this out:

View: https://twitter.com/GioWFAN/status/1479576980433555459?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1479576980433555459%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_c10&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.si.com%2Fextra-mustard%2F2022%2F01%2F07%2Faaron-rodgers-possible-fake-rumor-about-him-super-bowl

For those who can’t see, the text of the tweet was:

“Before this gets even more out of control, here is more context to the text Boomer got about Aaron Rodgers. By the end of our discussion we all came to the conclusion that we believed it was a prank.”

I’d love to hear Boomer explain how he came to conclude that the same information he was touting as coming from a “trusted source” turned out to be a prank.

As I said originally, this was straight-up bullshit from the beginning.

Wasn’t this one of Trumps very last strategies while still in office? It was smart but dumb then and it’s smart and less dumb now.
Crap. His Post too soon

I meant to add that unlike then, with vaccinations and boosters in place now, a positive case does not mean the same thing it used to. It seems to me that if you exist primarily ina cohort where 95% are vaccinated and boosted, and those who are not are peak conditions athletes, then testing to find people who are positive but not sick might not mean the same thing it did in December 2020.
I wonder if any studies have been done to trace the level of contagiousness (I’m sure there’s a better medical term) for those who are vaccinated and boosted who are asymptomatic yet positive.

It's almost as though context matters.

I'm going to venture that the people like me who are oozing snot out of there nose and blowing chunks out of their throats (yeah, I just got it and am fully vaxxed) are more contagious than those that aren't. How much so would be interesting to know (2x, 10x?)

I know a handful of unvaccinated people. I would not classify them as, "peak conditioned athletes" by any stretch of the imagination.

How the hell does an NFL organization find itself in this situation?

I mean ... and it not be the Jets

They could’ve just converted some portion of some players salaries to bonuses a few weeks ago to leave themselves breathing room, but fuck it I guess because Gettleman is out the door.

Pretty sure (can't find the last 3 months) that 60 minutes episode is 1/10/21, so right after and covering January 6th.
