They wouldn't need to open up a slot for either to return to practice/start the 21 day window.

Sure. But Barmore practiced for the first time on a Thursday and then was playing in a game three day later

If the team wanted to use the full 21 day window then obviously there's no need to release someone now.

We'll know when knew

My wife is an alumna of Wagner and we live here in Staten Island. I hope Titus Leo is the next Kyle Van Noy and stays with the team for many seasons to come.

He was never really wealthy to begin with.
If Davis didn't inherit the team, there is no way he makes the ownership cut with his wealth outside the value of the Raiders franchise. I'd bet he is one of the most non-liquid owners in all of the big 4 pro sports.

Presumably that chart includes the pro-rated share of each owner's portion of the team in question, no? Or are those numbers not including the team's value?
Yeah, Davis' net value at 2.3 B included the Raiders being valued at.... 2.295B or something.
The whole bottom of that list is people who bought NFL teams cheap a long time ago and it is the vast majority of their wealth.

That's what I thought but Mike Brown gave me pause. The Bengals are valued at $4.7B per Sportico.

But you are right about initial purchase price. Brown's father bought the Bengals in 1967 for $7.5million.

Halas was given 5K and the team in 1921. That's a pretty good deal.

I don't know the source, but my guess it that they have too low a valuation on the teams. Because Davis is well below what most people value the Raiders at.

All I could guess is that the team's valuation (i.e. price on the open market) won't necessarily take into consideration any debt service. And it wouldn't take into consideration any personal liabilities for the owner. So Davis (or Brown) might be
up to his neck in debt using the team as collateral.

Danny Dimes gave a farewell speech today. I guess they've made clear he won't see the field again as a Giant. He apparently was lining up as a scout team safety today.

As bad as he is, I think he's better than quite a few of the bad QBs out there. I assume he'll be someone's backup next year.

Hell I would take him as Drake Maye's backup in a heartbeat.

His mom is still alive, and she also inherited part of the Raiders from Al Davis apparently according to that report E5 Yaz posted. So that might just represent Mark's portion that he inherited.

This is weird. He's on the roster, right? If Devito and Lock get injured they are not going to put Jones in?

Somewhere
I can tell you that the Rooneys certainly don’t live like billionaires (which makes sense given that their worth is tied into the team).

Nope. I suspect he's going to be a healthy scratch the rest of the year.

The former Giants starter has fallen all the way to No. 4 on the depth chart, after his benching and the signing of Tim Boyle to the practice squad.

Via Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News, Jones was the fourth quarterback in individual drills on Wednesday, the first practice since the benching.

Jones has a $27M injury guarantee if he fails a 2025 physical. Giants aren’t going to risk that. He’s done with the NYG.
But he's lining up as a scout team safety! I'm sure you're right but that's a strange report.

Jones seems like a good egg. He just couldn't stay healthy and consistent. He'll have a long tail to his career as a backup if he wants it. Maybe a chance to compete for a starting role for a team in QB purgatory in 2025.

I don’t think Jones is a good quarterback but I think he’s probably one of the 32 best QB’s in the league at any given point. He should find work somewhere as a starter albeit not one any team wants to commit to. He could have a Brissett/Minshew type career or perhaps even a mini renaissance like a Geno Smith

The 2025 draft QB class doesn't seem to be particularly strong, especially in comparison to this year's batch. A QB needy team that doesn't want to take the risk on Beck/Sanders/Ewers/Ward/? will possibly look to acquire Jones as a placeholder for a future QB, a la Cam Newton in '20, Sam Darnold, Geno, etc.

Jags might be in a market for a new backup.

Browns-Bengals has been flexed out of TNF Week 16 in favor of Broncos-Chargers for the first ever TNF flex. While it would have been cool to see the Stripe the Jungle in primetime ala the Bills game last year, this gets the Bengals out of the hideous three games in 11 days stretch.

This was discussed on Evan & Tiki on WFAN yesterday. The reason to hold onto him was purely about being able to split next year's cap hit across two years via the June 1 designation. OTOH, cutting him now allows them to build some good will as it will allow Jones the possibility of getting picked up by someone now for the stretch run. I'd have to think that almost every team would improve the status of their backup QB by getting Jones.

Dallas immediately came to mind.

I'm sure the combination of the Cowboys leaky line, the Giants pass rush, and Jones' difficulties with dealing with pressure would make that likely.
Though if you're paying him nothing you don't have to be afraid of QB runs, and he's always been very good at those.

If the Dolphins were interested, I'd go there if I were Jones. They need an upgrade at backup QB and still have a chance to make the playoffs. The Cowboys have about as much chance of making the playoffs as the Giants do.
I agree with this. For Miami, it gives them a good-ish backup (way better than what they currently have) to Tua, and for Jones, there's a very realistic chance he ends up as their QB because of Tua's concussion issues. Plus he'd have crazy great weapons to throw to there. Plus...Miami is nicer than New Jersey.
