Buffalo releases Jacob Hollister.

Edit: Wouldn't be surprised in the least that he heads back to Seattle. 3rd TE for them right now is Tyler Mabry, who has been hurt most of the preseason.

Is there a link to a real-time NFL cutdown day tracker? Seems like there should be a flood of names released starting soon

Waiting to see if any 5th WR options...or better backup QB options...emerge.
SO far best WR cut is probably Perriman? Gandy-Golden was intriguing in the draft, KeeSean Johnson?, Steve Sims?

QB the best guys out there are ROUGH: Bortles, Rosen?, Lauletta?, DiNucci?, Etling?,

I like Sills.

I would have no issue with Bortles as a backup but I am likely in the minority.

Edit 2: And Mabry has now been cut. They definitely bringing someone in. Maybe two at TE.

Edit 3: Oops, could have sworn I clicked edit, not quote.

I think this one may be the closest to live based on having Hollister in there for Buffalo and a couple other trackers don't have him.

EDIT - OK, maybe not since a bunch of the Pats don't appear to be on their list. You'd think there would be something updating in real time though.

Forgot about Etling. If you want a break-glass guy who is familiar with the offense, I guess...

I wouldn't mind Dorsett or Fulgham at this point.
The guy who intrigues me is Collin Johnson. Jags just cut him but was a 5th rounder in 2020 and showed flashes down the stretch as a deep threat. Good size (6'6) as a jump-ball target.

Fulgham is more of your typical X - bigger guy and was decent against press last year in a limited sample size. Hightower is small guy but has some wheels and can return punts as well as work vertically from the slot. Fulgham would make a nice backup X but he didn’t play much special teams last year and I’m not sure he’s worth a roster spot if he isn’t at least a good ST player as a backup WR.

This is one of those days where some of us are going to be like “Oh yeah I liked that guy”. Cornell Powell reminded me a lot of Mo Sanu.

My question with them is WR wise what do they want to do? Do they want to find someone who can be a backup X and who plays teams? Do they want to try and further upgrade the position? John Brown fits in the potential upgrade but he has a ton of overlap with what Agholor is probably going to do.

And then there is outside corner. They might want to look at cuts there too.

They seem set with depth at most other positions but wouldn’t hurt to think about outside CB and WR.

Brown is just an older, worse, less healthy version of Agholor at this point. Also, if he didn't want to be WR 4 in LV not sure he's interested in that role here. I bet he ends up in PHI or HOU

I'm actually kind of intrigued with the potential overlap Brown may have with Agholor, if only because the Pats don't really have anyone else on the roster to do that right now. If they can get Wilkerson back on the practice squad, I'd probably rather go that route. I just have some concerns about what the passing game might look like without Agholor's vertical threat, were he to go down. They're pretty slow outside of him.

100% agree with the rest. The emergence of Yodny and the trade for Durant helps assuage any depth concerns I may have had about the O-line. Still nervous about outside corner, especially with Gilmore now on PUP. Troubling lack of depth there.

@Soxy any CBs catch your eye who got cut by chance? I think a few of us were storm-crows about outside corner. That Perkins pick was where I thought they might go outside CB. And it even makes the matter worse that they currently don’t have an up and comer like a JC Jackson. Next year might see DMC, Gilmore, and JCJ all gone and they won’t have a ton of cap space vs a lot of positions to fill. The good news there is this looks like a draft where the corner group is going to be deep. I’m not going to say that about any other position but corner either. Could be wrong and I’m certainly speculating here. I guess we will see how Mills, JJW, and Wade look for now unless they make a change. I would hope that one of Wade or JJW can make some noise as at least a competent CB3/4.

I haven't been paying close attention to other team's moves today, but didn't see any interesting CBs out of the ones that I did see. I saw John Brown's name in this thread and thought, "he'd be sort of interesting at wideout." Breshard Perriman could be interesting too.

Probably a better discussion for the defense thread, but it feels like sink or swim time for Joejuan Williams. Looks like he'll finally get the snaps.

Do you guys have a link for write-ups - you or SMU or whomever - about why we should be intrigued by Durant? Apologies if I missed it here. Thanks!

He's big, young, and has tackle/guard versatility. Played guard in Juco, then tackle at Missouri. Didn't test well at the combine and went undrafted. KC signed him as a UDFA, didn't make the initial roster but went on their practice squad. Ended up playing every snap at right guard in week 17 last year, when they rested all of their starters. Looks like he played a bunch in the preseason this year too. Pats must have liked what they saw, at least enough to throw KC a 7th round pick to cut in front of the waiver wire.

You never know with these low stakes moves but at least they're adding a body, and he ticks some of the boxes they like (positional versatility; starting LT for multiple years at an SEC school). I don't think he necessarily did anything wrong with KC. Seems more like a numbers crunch with all of the O-lineman they added during the offseason. Maybe there's nothing there, but it's a 7th round pick, so whatever.

Guess I just wondered how Durant looked last year, particularly during the playoff run for KC, given how crappy their OL was. I see he was on their Super Bowl roster, and of course he was just a rookie, lots of room to grow and all that. Hope he blossomed, at least a little, during a full off-season, into something the Patriots can truly use.

Could be BB wanted to take care of his annual draft pick swap with Andy Reid early to get that out of the way?
