Happy to hear you say this now because you seemed kinda down on the first 2 picks.
Barmore is the kind of game changing talent that if Saban signed off on the risk and the Pats felt he was a cultural fit then I am beyond thrilled. As a rusher he is the best IDL in this class easy. He has a lot of inconsistencies. He can be wreckless and over aggressive. You want to see him win more in the run game. It’s a pad level issue usually and something they can correct.

Following the 2000 season, the Pats' roster had very little talent. They added a bunch of solid pieces to fortify the roster. This year, they had a low-talent-level roster, and made a huge number of significant signings in order to bring the talent level up to a very competitive level. So it seemed like the perfect year to take some home run swings. I think they did that. Gotta believe/hope that at least 1-2 of them connect.

Can he be Richard Seymour with consistency?

I think he’s a different style of player. Barmore is more of an interior wrecker but he’s doing the dirty work himself. In terms of the kind of impact he can have though absolutely.

Anybody have an opinion on him? @LoweTek?
@koufax32?
@MuzzyField?
Well, UCF's problem last year was they could score at will but most of the time so could the other team. They sure had a lot defensive players drafted. I have to assume the drafting teams were going off of raw skills like speed, lateral movement, pursuit, etc.

To answer you question AX, I don't really remember his name called all that much. But Belichick drafts coachable athletes with potential, as you know. Maybe he's one of them.

To add to this... I remember him from 2018 and 2019. He is really fast, especially when playing at UConn.

Last fall I was barely interested in keeping track of the Gators and didn't watch much UCF. I wold have bet he graduated until realizing he was hurt early in the season. He did make it back for the last couple of games os that might check a box favorably.

My initial reaction to the pick given the round and his skillset (speed) would have been a role on special teams, but I don't know how much ST he played at UCF, or during his year at Ole Miss. He needs to get stronger without sacrificing speed.
