Not close to largest halftime leads.Packers led 49-7 over Tampa 10/2/83, Bears led 41-0 over the 49ers 10/29/06, and tied for third is a 40 point margin. First the Chicago Cardinals led the Rochester Jeffersons 40-0 10/7/23, and the 2008 Jets led the Rams by the same margin 11/9/08.

And more recently, the Colts came back from a 38-10 3rd quarter deficit to beat the Chiefs 45-44 in the 2013 wild card round.
Thanks, knew that'd be somewhere up there. That's what I get for checking regular season games only!

Menefee and Long just unwittingly underscored the problem:

Seattle is NOT a dominant team and has not been the whole season.

Living on the past.

I admit that I am not minding this at all. Annoyed by the thought of: "well, it would have been three in a row if we'd just handed the ball to Lynch."

Now watch them come back.

"Cam is all about himself" is code for white America still being uncomfortable with young, successful black men exuding confidence on their tv.
Yep. Because they subconciously think black athletes are all natural talent and it is classless to brag about that, but white athletes are all about hard work so they deserve to brag a little after all that effort.

The celebration aversion is a cultural thing. But also is a generational one.

And yes, some of the disapproval is tinged in that way.

It also is driven by the fact that Cam is not a NEP ( which also is why Aaron Rodgers gets crap here).

And why everyone screamed -- but their schedule! -- in the Carolina thread. (Which was funny because our schedule also was weak)

This is garbage.

I am so, so hyped for this game. I think Seattle wins on the back of RW going fairly crazy, but I look forward to seeing what kind of game Carolina can give them. After a good Pats win and the finish last night it seems almost greedy to hope this game lives up to its potential but matchup alone this has game of the year written all over it.
Ha!

You guys are hilarious thinking that racism isn't a part of popular sports culture.

The dirt dog vs natural talent thing is everywhere. You have to be blind to not see it.

Well, if you're going to start a comeback that is how you do it? Almost better that lockett didn't go all the way himself, gave a spark but also let the offense feel like got into a groove too, rather than a flkukey individual effort.

Can the league just pay to have a guy watch replays in real time for every play? There is a less than zero reason to delay anything to "confirm" or "check" things that any asshole with a television could see at home.

Enough already.

Maybe for some people, but that's a really tough generalization you're making.

You're basically just saying no white person is allowed to have a negative gut reaction to a black person without it being racist.

I could give 2 shits what race Newton or any other athlete is. It's fucking insulting that you or anyone else would even bring that up, frankly.
Yes, pointing out omnipresent and subversive racism is insulting. You going to tell me you have tons of black friends next?

You're just blind if you don't think there is racism involved with how America views black athletes. It's not even open for debate, its right there in front of you.

You personally? Maybe. I dont know you from Adam so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and say its nothing to do with Cam being African American.

But to act like thats NOT a factor at all for a lot of people is definitely putting one's head in the sand.

No, were saying that you should be introspective and examine why you have that gut reaction. Because those are often about societal influence, and that is horribly tainted.

Why would you pass that deep on 1st down when you're up that much? Yeah, lots of time left, but I'd go safer, with short passes and draws, for more sure yards and assured time killing.

I also hated Manziel's on field money sign antics. Does that make me racist against white people?

Here is how America views black athletes: they fucking love them. Check their salaries and their endorsement deals

I don't disagree with this, but it's a more nuanced point than the original one, which was directly quoting one of the posters and saying it was code for racism without any more information or context. He was saying that if you don't like Cam because you think he's full of himself, you're part of the racism problem.

Also, I actually really like Cam Newton. I think he's a fun guy to root for.
