Neverett does a pretty good job calling hockey, which is not something everyone can do.
I thought he was fine at baseball, but I didn't listen a lot, so I don't have a strong opinion on that.

Maybe he could replace "EVERY GOAL WINS THE STANLEY CUP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Sirott on Bruins' games.

I didn't enjoy Neverett, he called the game as if it were a TV broadcast rather than radio. I'd love to have DOB back, but fear we'll get Merloni or worse

They should be finding the best young baseball PBP announcer as an eventual heir to Castig.

The best RS radio team in my opinion was Ken Coleman and Jon Miller. Second best was Ken Coleman and Joe Castiglione. It seems to me that Tim Neverett makes mistakes more often than other broadcasters. Yes, he corrects himself, giving the corrected count or corrected number of outs or whatever, but it's distracting. However, I thought that he and Joe worked better together this past season than in previous years--the give-and-take between them seemed friendly rather than simply professional.

Nobody will top Coleman and Castiglione for me, but that's what I grew up with. Jon Miller is excellent, of course. I was actually fond of Trupe, in a "he's ours" kind of way. I also liked how he seemed to subtly needle/annoy Joe, and I found "prickly" or "gamely playing along" Castiglione to be pretty amusing. Nobody else has brought that out of him, before or since. This is obviously not about baseball announcing chops, just a "who do I want to spend dozens of hours with over the summer" kind of thing.

Edit: I called his tweets "odd takes" earlier, but I guess what Neverett was trying to say was that the opportunity with the Dodgers is better, and that both organizations are first-class. His phrasing was still odd. I'm still curious why the Dodgers opportunity is so much better than the one with the Sox. His Dodgers bio says he'll "handle play-by-play duties for a select number of games on both television and radio." Unless he was looking to work less or is desperate to do TV, it's hard to see how the Dodgers opportunity is better.

Kind of surprised the new co-host hasn 't been named yet with spring training starting next week.
Wonder if it'll be a "by committee" approach.

Bruins radio did it in the pre-season last year. When Gaucher went to do TV for Vegas, they had a few announcers do a pre-season game or 2 before making the final decision right before the start of the regular season.

Hopefully they have better results. [/IdontliketheBruinsguy]

Ahh, that would make sense.
