I want 90% of those fans in Bridgeport to be sad.
BS that they gave the 1 seed an essential road game.

Paige is the greatest basketball player on the planet. I will be accepting no counterarguments.
That was the first time since she came back from her injury that she looked like her former self on the court. Decisive, clutch, incredible. Unbelievably great game, though I really feel for the UConn center who snapped her wrist in half. Gruesome. And it's going to cost UConn big time in the next round. Edwards and Nelson-Ododa cannot, by themselves, handle Stanford's bigs, never mind South Carolina's should UConn advance. It's going to be a massacre inside for Stanford in the next round and UConn's bigs are going to be in huge foul trouble. They'll need Bueckers, Williams, and Fudd to shoot the lights out just to keep it a game.

"They"? It's not the fans fault. If it bugs you that much contact the NCAA and tell them not to award Bridgeport the bid. But it won't matter , if they have it in Philly. NYC or Boston UCONN will still have the most fans by a wide margin. We travel.

If they’re a 2 seed they should be in Spokane or Wichita

they don’t let a host/cohost play at home on the mens side I don’t know why they allow it here

They want the most number of fans in the seats and this is what does it. That matters more to them than “fairness”.

It's not a home game. Duke and NC have enjoyed penalty of Greensboro and Charlotte roads to the Final Four on the men's side.

JFC, if the best player in the country doesn't get hurt UConn is the 1 seed and NC State is playing closer to home so they can get their ass kicked by South Carolina, or enjoying a trip to Spokane or Wichita.

Sure they can do that - And then the arena is 1/3 full. NCAA and ESPN doesn't like that. Besides if not for a ton of injuries they would have been the one seed. Putting them in BP as a 2 was perfectly acceptable. What's next would you like to complain about the Final 4 being held at Paige's home?

Oh and I'll just toss this in because I'm sure you didn't notice it last year. When UCONN won the 2021 regional in San Antonio they were the 1 seed. We played Baylor who was the 2 seed and beat them. Don't remember anybody saying UCONN was treated unfairly because it was in Baylor's backyard.

Re:strek1, That’s different. The entire tournament was in Central Texas because of Covid. Plus it had limited fans due to Covid and UConn fans probably still outnumbered Baylor fans.

They kind of did this year when they had Wisconsin play in Milwaukee.
I called the NCAA out on that multiple times but U-Wisconsin still wasn’t official host in MKE and it wasn’t the regionals. So Wisconsin still was the higher seed vs. opponents.

You'll know the women's game has arrived when the NCAA and its business partners don't need to worry about fannies in the seats and therefore scatter teams about. But until then....

Tonight's UCONN game had over 10,000 in attendance, sold out. The Louisville/ Michigan game had only 4,500 fans in a 15000 capacity arena. It is still a business that has to make a profit.

Fudd did nothing until some late free throws and UConn had a lot of careless turnovers..and still managed to hang on.
Sounds like this South Carolina team is damn good and their player Boston is a stud.
Should be a good one

Looks like SC only lost their two games by 1 and by 2. Why was their game against UCONN canceled earlier in the season?

When do you think that will be?
A long long time imo. At the end of the day it is still a pretty crappy product to the average basketball fan even if a couple big games get an attention bump. From 1980 to the early 2000’s we saw NCAAW attendance skyrocket 4x plus but it has remained pretty much stagnant over the last 15 years despite the efforts being made to market the sport. The trend simply isn’t there.

My wife and oldest daughter are at the women's Final Four and sent photos of the crowd, and there's TONS of empty seats. I feel bad for the ladies playing, because they DO put in just as much work as the men do. For real. Same commitment. Same number of hours. But the fan interest just isn't there.

UConn vs. South Carolina.... South Carolina has Boston, who is a complete mismatch for UConn's bigs. With UConn's third big out with the wrist injury, I don't think that Nelson-Ododa and Edwards can hold up in there because they commit so many stupid fouls and I don't see them getting through this game without at least one of them fouling out. They'll need Bueckers, Williams, and Fudd to play great - which they're certainly capable of, but it's a big ask. I think South Carolina wins a close one. The range, though, could be anywhere from SC +15 to UConn +6, IMO. In other words, if UConn plays well they most certainly can win this game, but not by much. But if SC plays well it could be a blowout.

It was early in the season but I can see it playing out like the earlier one played out . Close game through 3 but UConn ran out of gas and SC totally dominated the 4th quarter.

But of course we have Geno's strange Final Four record. He's 12-10 in the semifinals but is 11- 0 in finals.

That stat of the UConn womens and mens teams in the championship game is ridiculous: 15-0.

How there isn’t a 30 for 30 on Geno and Calhoun being hired within a year of each other at some hidden away school on a patch of farmland is amazing to me. It’s one of the great stories in college sports history. Plus they aren’t the biggest fans of each other so it could be extra juicy.

Dave O'Brien skipped out of Sox Spring Training to broadcast the WNIT Championship on CBSSN between Seton Hall and South Dakota State. Started at 3.

its not O’Brien. O’Brien is doing the Sox game but the guy on CBSCS sure does sound like him.

The rebounding advantage in that game was stark. Without Dorka this game that is even more of a concern for UConn. They will need a lot of hustle plays and using SC's physical advantage against them with drawing charges, loose ball fouls, etc. And be more prolific than 3 for 8 from 3-point range.

I’m enjoying watching Destanni Henderson immensely.

Uconn looks like the better layup and shooting team.
If they can box out, it’s theirs.

UCONN can’t get within 10 feet of the basket. If they don’t start hitting 3’s this game is over. Not sure about the UCONN height advantage but this SC team is just manhandling CT. Not sure how they can be this physical and barely get called for any fouls.

UConn getting a ROUGH whistle if you ask me.
