Am I the only Quaker here?

I will always hate Princeton with the heat of a thousand suns. I’d root for the 1987 Lakers against those pretty boys.

My wife went to Penn and played volleyball so she has an intense hatred of Princeton as well, even (especially) as a competitive varsity athlete.

BUT...

She always roots for the Ivy League in the NCAA Tournament, without question. Even Princeton.

Columbia Missouri is a total shithole and Princeton is in the nicer part of New Jersey

I'm a Bear, and while just about every Tiger alum I know is an arrogant asshole, I still support the League in the Tournament.

I definitely root for the other 6.
Go Tigers!

You may find this story amusing.

I'm a Syracuse grad, and as I just mentioned, my wife is a Penn grad. I work at UConn. And so my second son, when he was little (like 5 years old) would tell us, "If I don't get into Syracuse or UConn, I'm going to Penn."

Pretty sure he didn't quite get how this worked. LOL

Newton
Short rant:

One of the Princeton seniors is from Newton Centre. He was a standout at Newton North high school. I remember going to see a game there his senior year and ran into his aunt who was all decked out in Princeton gear because he had already been accepted. When I was chatting with her about what door to go in she couldn’t help but tell me about how his mother also went to Princeton and was a standout athlete. She was just a completely insufferable smug asshole about the whole thing.

This year, his sister was accepted to Harvard for basketball and was a starter on the North volleyball team. Based on what I saw and what a few other parents told me she was overrated as a volleyball player, but had been a starter on the team largely due to her athletic pedigree and reputation.

When people tell me, they’re tired of the racial reckoning and hearing the term “white supremacy“ I think of this family. Fuck them.

Refs are kind of out of control in this Auburn/Houston game. Super tight calls, second half feels like it's only been free throws.

Houston is built different. Monster second half performance despite their starting backcourt in foul trouble.

Not a close game for the duration.

The Saturday and Sunday schedule always is atrocious with so many games backloaded for prime time, but when you get a stinker like this, the schedule looks even worse.
I think as we are experiencing tonight, the sequencing of games is exhilarating as long as you have access to a remote control or laptop mouse.

Yeah, Iowa Wild (AHL , Minny affiliate)
Ah ok. I checked the temp in Des Moines expecting some warm spell causing condensation but it is 22 degrees there. Guess either the heat is blazing in the building or the rink covering leaves a bit to be desired.

Texas survived. Ugly offense - need to get back gelled next weekend. Very good defense for the most part - a bit of lapse midway through the 2nd but they looked tired. Very good win over a strong Penn State team.

And their D was hyper aggressive so this really is crazy. I love when teams play hard aggressive defense but the refs have to call it when they foul. They can’t get the advantages of the aggressive D without any of the negative consequences (the fouls that inevitably happen with aggressive D).

Right. Tennessee was better than Duke yesterday. They hit a few contested 3s which were the main difference in the game. But it was such an awful product. Izzo MSU style football is horrible to watch.

This dude been playing for like 8 years. Like Travis Ford from back in the day.
Marcus Carr committed to Pitt in the spring of 2017 and played for the Panthers that year. It is now 2023….two schools and 162 games later he’s still going strong in Texas.

I believe there is a player who redshirted, had an injury year and then the Covid year as well…..although I may be thinking of some football players.

Guy on Duke, Grandison, had his college career span 6 years and 3 teams: Holy Cross, Illinois and Duke. 2 years at HC, sit out a year (old rule), 2 years at Illinois, 1 year at Duke (because one of the Illinois years was a Covid freebie).

Not sure if any basketball or football player has (or will do) the "Blutarski"; i.e., 7 years of college.
