Short rant:

One of the Princeton seniors is from Newton Centre. He was a standout at Newton North high school. I remember going to see a game there his senior year and ran into his aunt who was all decked out in Princeton gear because he had already been accepted. When I was chatting with her about what door to go in she couldn’t help but tell me about how his mother also went to Princeton and was a standout athlete. She was just a completely insufferable smug asshole about the whole thing.

This year, his sister was accepted to Harvard for basketball and was a starter on the North volleyball team. Based on what I saw and what a few other parents told me she was overrated as a volleyball player, but had been a starter on the team largely due to her athletic pedigree and reputation.

When people tell me, they’re tired of the racial reckoning and hearing the term “white supremacy“ I think of this family. Fuck them.
I think you're talking about Ethan Wright? If so, he transferred from Princeton to Colorado last year and is no longer a Tiger. I can confirm your general impression of the family's entitlement.

David Jenkins Jr played in 5 conference tournaments in 4 different leagues.
Summit (18-19)
MWC (21
Pac 12 (22)
Big 10 (23)
Your Huskies look like a wagon right now, Dan. Especially the way they've played in the second half of these games. If Hawkins can actually have a good FIRST half one of these days, look out.

Wright played for Colorado in 2022-23.

The guy coaching them does a hell of a job. They win (more than 1 state title) and they play good fundamental basketball. Lost in the state semis this year.

Don't know anything about him, but you have to assume with all that affluence and entitlement; he's got parents of kids who don't play much jumping all over him constantly. He's been there 20 years, I believe.

I agree that the Newton North coach (Paul Connolly I believe) is one of the best, if not the best, HS basketball coaches in MA

@Bleedred and @Humphrey, I appreciate the clarification. I realized that I was looking at an outdated roster when my wife noticed he was on Colorado’s. Wonder why he transferred instead of taking a fifth year at Princeton?

As for entitlement, etc., my wife said she’s gotten that impression about the North coach as well from some interviews where he has been pretty reserved when talking about his best players – instead of saying things like, “He’s an incredible player and the sky’s the limit” he’ll say “The next few years will be important to his development.”
