That call on Dunn, followed by the second quick one got PC completely out of rhythm, and they haven't been able to get anything going since.  It was such an awful call and you could immediately tell it was going to have an impact.  Dunn is such an aggressive player, and he has to play the rest of the game with a hand effectively tied behind his back for fear of not only getting another foul, but getting another flagrant and getting tossed.

Hate to say it, but Henton is coming up small in another big game.  We cannot afford another disappearing act from him tonight.

PC has such a huge size advantage that they really need to be crashing the boards on every offensive rebound.

Dayton with 14 free throw attempts.  Providence with ZERO.

Watching Dunn on defense is fascinating. He reaches in on almost every single play. A minute ago he tried the Rondo slap it out from behind move on a guy past him on the way to the hoop.
He's going to foul out of this game.

14-0 free throw differential. Yup no advantage for Dayton in Columbus.

NDState trying to make it a game versus Gonzaga. Hitting threes left and right to pull the game back to single digits Since the first half

Every foul they've called against Dayton has been some little ticky tack shit outside the arc.  It's like they just call them because they feel like they have to in order to keep the numbers close.  But apparently, not one of our guys has been hit once in the act of shooting.

Most of it has been that Dayton is getting to the hoop, until that last play Providence hasn't.
Also Dayton is playing good defense.

That's fine but Dayton gets a call on every possession. They were in the bonus after about five minutes.

yeah he bumped him with the shoulder and the PC player dove to the floor like he got hit by a sniper. Nobody gets that call.

This happens when one team is über aggressive and the other is passive and taking jumpers. Has there been a single play where we drew a foul? I haven't seen one and I'm a Friar fan.

Cellar Door, you know that 50% of Dayton's shots have been 3 pointers, right?
You know that when you are fouled it doesn't count as an attempt right?

I feel like I'm in this thread with the Tommy Heinsohn twins of PC.

You poor thing. I feel like I am watching a bag job by the refs. I guess we both suffer.

Did he just say Cooley was up to 357 pounds?  I don't remember him looking that big.  That's huge.
That can't be right. Dude was not Wilfork sized was he?

We survived our worst half of basketball of the year with most of it occurring with Dunn on the bench. We got out of the half down 3 without Dunn picking up another foul......we could easily be down 12 with him having his 3rd.

I side with Cellar on the officiating and aggressiveness of Dayton but disagree about Dunn playing dumb. The 2nd foul was foolish by him but he's played extremely smart defensively as well as offensively being aware the Flyers are looking to take charges on his penetration. He's a very very smart player.

They just cut it to 6 only to have Pangos nail a three and get fouled. Back to a 10-pt margin.

Had such high hopes for Sidiki Johnson.
Hadn't heard that name since he left PC, left the JC he was at then played overseas. What did you hear about him?

The net barely rippled on a couple of those Pangos threes.

Unrelated, free throw shooting seems pretty poor this year.

I don't know how you can say Dayton is being aggressive.  Most of those fouls on PC weren't when Dayton was taking the ball to the hoop.  One of the fouls on Dunn was offensive, and the other was a reach at the foul line, Carson's second foul was a ticky tack call out near the foul line, they got hit with a blocking call on what should have been a charge, and at least two others were around the three point line on hand checks.  Of the 9 fouls, that's like 6 that I can remember and only one was Dayton taking it to the hoop and it should have been a charge.  Meanwhile, Dayton is contesting every shot (4 blocks), reaching and poking at every ball (10 turnovers, 5 steals) and yet, PC has 1 free throw?

PC is still in this game because they've played fantastic defense.  If they start getting shots to fall, and the refs don't take the game over, they should pull this out, but we'll see.  You can't get outshot 14-1 from the free throw line and expect to win any half, no matter how well you shoot and play defense.

We are getting our asses kicked in this 2nd half. Lindsey is the only reason we're staying in the game. One of those threes were when the officials missed a blatant Desrosiers travel too.

Even though the rest of today was chalk it narrowed ESPN's tourney challenge to 6 perfect brackets. 5 have PC 1 has Dayton.

Pollard should have gotten called for an over the back there, would have been his fourth foul.

No new info.  Sidiki was referenced in the Cooley article you linked.

Meanwhile, over 28 minutes in and the Friars have yet to match the 36 points Cotton scored by himself last year against UNC.

I really wish I was the kind of person that could turn a game like this off.  I have a feeling that this next 40 minutes or so is going to be the sports fan equivalent of a root canal.

There is a goddamn lid on the hoop.  PC has 10 offensive rebounds to Dayton's 2, and I don't think they've turned a single one of them into points.
