I'm rooting so hard for UMBC. Coach Odom is a great guy and is a rising star in the coaching world. Lyles is a stud player.
I swear you have a rooting interest in every America East team except UVM haha

How about the county of Baltimore?
I lived in both and it was a cavalcade of suck. But I have to admit that the hilarity of UMBC being the first 16 seed to win would be off the charts. Imagine UMASS Lowell winning an NCAA game. That's kind of the local equivalent.

If this happens, the 2 biggest upsets in college hoops could both be UVA being beaten.

Let’s face it; UMBC is probably going to come up short, if only because they’re going to start making mistakes and short-arming shots and they are overmatched on defense. (And you have to assume that UVA will figure this out eventually.)

Having said that, it warms the cockles of my heart to see another titan of the overrated ACC play like shit.

It isn’t so much that a 16 might beat a 1 for first time ever (135-0 I think?), but they’re getting manhandled so far. Eventually figure it would happen, but more in a Miami/Loyola type of finish.

I think with the size of the lead, UVA may end up equaling them in mistakes. If UVA can make it single digits before 5:00, that's one thing. But as time ticks down and the lead stays, the pressure shifts off UMBC. I think.

It's still early. Same point difference with half the time left I'll start to believe. Until then it's like thinking Bugs Meany is finally about to outsmart Encyclopedia Brown.
The thing is that a 13-point lead in a Virginia game is the equivalent to around 20-21 in your average game. Gotta love hearing Tony Bennett tell his team that it's a tight ballgame now......uh no, you're getting blown out of the building you need a run to MAKE it a ball game. Total denial of what is happening to his team.

They’re not coming back. They can’t play up tempo. This will go down as the greatest humiliation in a very long history of athletic humiliations.

There’s a reason it has never happened. UMBC needs to forget it is UMBC. Lot of time left.

Oh, I'm aware. I've watched an awful lot of games coached by Tony's dad, including a Final Four game in 2000 that makes this one look like the a Showtime Lakers exhibition. And I've seen a lot of defensive stop led comebacks.

Not that it’s any sort of excuse, but if Virginia is the number one overal seed why didn’t they get to play one of the #16 seeds that had to go through the play-in game?
