fair. i didnt, but it's a crazy enough story that it had a little Prince to it.

it's not like people are ever out hitting around some tennis balls on the local rec club's courts, and serena williams shows up and wants a piece of you. You're never down at the batting cages and have justin verlander show up and ask if he can pitch you some live BP. you know?

Oh well, you can believe me or not.  It's totally all true, and why on earth would I make up stories about playing with the women's basketball team?  They DO play pickup in the UConn rec center in the offseason (well they did until the new basketball building got finished this year).  They DO play in the summer (in Gampel) and if you know the right people you can go play with them.

But if you don't believe me, that's cool.  No hard feelings.

I believe him.

When I went to Michigan, I would play pickup hoops in the IM building. And in the spring after the NCAAs ended, Gary Grant, Roy Tarpley and Steve Stoyko used to show up every once in a while to play. (Grant used to enjoy throwing no look passes to see if the folks he was playing with were up to it.)

The point is, this stuff happens in the offseason. So I buy it.

Yep.  When I was a student at Syracuse, I got dunked on by Stephen Thompson playing pickup.  I got rejected by Derrick Coleman on a play when I was at the three point line and he started the play in the paint and he still blocked me.

It's totally different than being at the batting cages and having Verlander show up and offer to throw you live BP.

Yeah man.  I'm just saying how awesome a story that was.  That's all.

So apparently, Donovan McNabb is the uncle of UConn bench player Kia Nurse, and he partied pretty hard with the girls after their win last week.

And who can blame him - that's the closest he's ever been to winning a championship.

The timing of the McNabb story in this thread, immediately after the discussion with Ivanvamp about Syracuse athletics, was kind of funny.
