Muschamp is losing his mind in Auburn. He just got a 15 yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for yelling at a ref, on the back if a late hit out of bounds play (so 30 penalty yards on a 3 yard qb scramble). Then the other coaches had to physically pull him off the field a couple plays later.

Also, nice slip and slide on the Auburn sideline there. Reminded me of the concrete Reggie Bush skated on with his cleats, fell and ended his season in St. Louis.

I saw it once when Mack was the coach but after the last 18 years North Carolina being 11-1 in football is blowing my mind

What's the mystery? Michigan gave up 360+ yards on the ground today. MSU last week gave up, what, 80?
If you think the difference in performance is simply due to the opponent, you're only fooling yourself.

The Buckeyes had a bad week against MSU and they executed near-flawlessly today. The question is why?

A team with the kind of talent I saw out there today should not have lost to an MSU team without their starting QB.

The reality (and I thought this was obvious) is that my question was rhetorical. And Elliot was right when he complained after last weeks game. The game plan, play calling and execution were simply awful against MSU and much better today. But there really shouldn't be that level of variation for a top team.

In New England, it's trendy to hate on them, but Notre Dame is better than people give them credit for. Brian Kelly has done a heck of a job resurrecting that program.

edit: and Will "The Thrill" Fuller is a stud. Yes please, BB.

double edit: oh shit. Stanford answers. Helluva game we got goin' here

I like Kelly but how much of a resurrection was it? Weis got to a title game didn't he? I know he got pasted by LSU I don't remember if that was the title game

Edit: He made two BCS bowls, never title game

The best explanation aside from what RedOctober said (which is absolutely correct) is that Michigan State is a much better team than Michigan. Michigan fans don't want to hear that the "little brother" is better, but they are. By a lot. Sometimes it is that easily explained.

I always thought Weiss and Willingham were kind of smoke and mirrors. Able to overcome the disaster of Bob Davie, but never truly raising them to legit top 5-10 status.

Brian Kelly is on his third QB. That ain't bad. Plus, I just like the "look" of his playcalls. Lots of misdirection, good game theory, etc. If Weiss loses Brady Quinn, that's a (maybe) .500 football team.

Edit: Fun fact - the QB who pasted ND in that LSU bowl game was none other than:

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away...

In Weis's last three seasons he averaged seven losses a year. This has been a complete resurrection under Kelly. And Weis never got to a title game, while Kelly did (where they were blown out, but he got there).

And yet it took basically an all time freak play for State to beat Michigan just a very short time ago which tells me in fact that you haven't been watching the games just the W-L records. If State was truly better they would have handled Michigan the way Ohio did today. Honestly in my mind it comes down to week to week variation, injuries and depth as much as it comes down to overall talent levels.

I get that and I like Kelly but resurrection to me means something different I guess. It's just semantics. I get what you are saying.

Yes I did watch that game. Yes it was a freak ending, but State outplayed Michigan that game. The ending was as it should have been, with State on the winning side. And as for "just the W-L" well, isn't that the point? Or have style points completely eclipsed results now? Since when did this become figure skating?

The fumble was bad, but for a true sophmore who saw no game action his freshman year, on the road against a top ten team, Deshone Kizer has been surprisingly good. Between him and Malik Zaire, ND could be stacked at QB next season

edit: thought he was a true freshman. Turns out he just saw no game action last year

ND losing their starting QB and first and second string RB really becomes apparent when they get in the red zone. It has hurt them all year.

Herby decides to shit all over Gundy and Walsh because Rudolph throws a Pick 6. Some of the most bizarre analysis I have seen at this level. Walsh promptly responds with a 72 yard bomb for a TD.

Where's OFT? At the game? Even so, no iphone? Domer?
I'm in Bali, of all places, so it's getting on to noon on Sunday. Internet isn't good enough to stream the game unfortunately, so I'm sort of half assed following along.

Domer and I have $30 on it...

Don't understand why the Irish came out passing on that drive. They're doing just enough to lose.

Great game, unless you're a defense freak. Stanford just pulled off a rare three and out. Bali. Life is good.

ND needed that stop.

Are Hogan and Mccaffrey pros? I'd spend a mid-round (maybe higher?) on either.

Let's see if Kizer can do anything here. 1-2 more drives at the most.
