I didn't think NBC could match Fox's coverage but I was wrong.  Now with MOTD (and actual MOTD, not Premier League Review), Goal Zone, and NBC showing games on USA we're really spoiled.

Really happy with this news.  NBC has been phenomenal. The studio and announcing talent they utilize is great and as Zomp mentioned all of the lagniappe really adds to the viewing experience.  The Extra Time channels are great and they are expanding the games onto USA Network and CNBC.

Awesome news. No other network has done near as much to promote the game and make as many games available. I was worried about Fox getting it, as my experience with Fox Sports Go has been horrible. Have had a much better time with NBC Live Extra.

I haven't lived in the US for a couple years so I had to Google whether NBC had their own MOTD or was picking up the BBC version.

MOTD has become a must stream for me, especially for checking out players on smaller clubs for fantasy. The way Lineker, Shearer and co. break down important moments and just the general movement of the game is marvelous.

Also interesting to note that NBC's MOTD from last Saturday apparently led with United-Spurs, while the BBC version showed that match last and kicked off with Leicester-Sunderland.

Is the NBC coverage free-to-air or part of a larger sports pay-tv package? If pay-tv, how much are you paying?

I only ask because I don't have Sky here in the UK and have taken to watching a stream of the NBC coverage and I have to say it's quite impressive - though I'm sure you can get better analysts than Messrs Earle & Mustoe. Fancy taking another Robbie off our hands (Savage)?

It's also a bit galling that you get better live coverage over there than I do here.

It's hard to over-state the low production values Fox Sports brings to virtually everything they touch.  NBCSN Saturdays has been an absolute joy of HD perfection.  This is a big win as far as I'm concerned.

They have the occasional match on free-to-air on NBC. The remaining require signing up for pay television. The service provider typically require signing up for a sports tier of channels. Most Americans pay for a bundle that includes television/internet/telephone service that runs between $130-200 month.

Fox for me is far and away the worst for broadcasting sports. I don't think they have moved off 720P. The difference is clear when compared  to the other 3 networks.

I was worried about MLS' switch from NBCSN to Fox Sports this season, especially in light of the sordid history of FSC's old & terrible coverage of MLS.  Fox has done better than I thought they would, but I still prefer NBC.  So, good news for EPL broadcasts.

I've mentioned to some of my old English co-workers that we can watch every single Premier League game here live, and the extra cost on my cable bill is about $9 a month (which includes several other sports channels in addition to NBCSN). They were not amused.

We are insanely spoiled compared to even 5 years ago, much less 10-12 years ago when I might see 3 or 4 Liverpool games a year live, and fans of mid-table teams would be lucky to get more than 1.

The one downside is that NBC is pretty difficult about streaming.  I was traveling and wanted to push the stream from my iPhone onto the HD screen in my room--no dice, the app won't let you.  But that's a minor gripe.

On the other hand, you can get access to all the game replays on Apple TV for free even if you don't have the channel and aren't authorized with your cable provider.

I'm not sure if this is intentional or a glitch in their system, but I am enjoying it while it lasts either way.

FWIW, the NBC sports live extra streaming to my roku2 was amazing this weekend.

I mirrored my phone to my Roku quite a bit last year before they released a Live Extra app, which was only ok, but the app itself has been great.

And...do you get MOTD2, it's the Sunday Show, with Mark Chapman, and two pundits from the BBC stable? They cover the Sunday matches in detail then do the goals from Saturday, so the punditry is often more detailed cos less games and it's a 1 hour show, no adverts (in the UK). Anyway, keep an eye out for Danny Murphy, he was on Sunday's MOTD2; he's the best MOTD pundit but tends not to get the big gigs, Shearer is the big name but he's not the best pundit. Also, credit to Jermaine Jenas, who's back on the MOTD pundit roster, he's a natural. I still miss Hansen.

Also, if you have AppleTV, there's now a NBC Sports app that will let you stream the games.

NBC's versions of MOTD are hosted by Rebecca Lowe with commentary from the analysts working that weekend (Kyle Martino, either of the 2 Robbies)

It'll be a cold day in hell when something like the bolded happens over here. Even shows that are touted as "commercial-free" still bombard you with advertisements.

Yeah, it's not the BBC show, it's put on entirely by NBC and has commercials. They do both MOTD on Saturday (usually 2 hours) and MOTD2 on Sunday (usually 1 hour).

Lineker does occasionally make an appearance via satellite to discuss certain games/issues.

Lineker is not appearing on American TV the rest of the season to focus on work duties. Is he leading the BT Sport Champions League coverage?

Also a way to view the UK version of MOTD on American television would be amazing, but if you're looking to watch it in a way that doesn't involve legal streaming, the app FootyLight has both MOTDs and the Sky MNF coverage available from about midnight EST. Very useful if I'm doing something around 5:30 Eastern when it's on in England.

I only remember Lineker doing a segment on Sunday/Monday

Thanks for mentioning this.  The last time I'd checked the Roku channel store for NBC Live Extra was in February.

Live Extra is an app you can DL to your PC or mobile device to watch a stream.
You do need to have NBC Sports in your cable package and a participating cable provider though to watch the live streams (Comcast will work). It's one of those apps that uses your cable login, ala HBO Go.

Otherwise, you can still use the app, but only for highlights and game replays and stuff like that.

But unless you're wedded to having DVR capabilties in any room, paying cable box lease fees is insane when you could buy a Roku with the same money in three months.  Plus the Roku can take a Chromecast or Plex feed.

at one point during the 1st season, you could watch live all other games by going through the On Demand menu, last season I noticed that was only in HD only, and this season is completely gone (apparently)...or am I just looking at the wrong places this season?

Or buy one TiVo and use that with CableCard.  I did the math on mine and with box/dvr fees it paid for itself inside two years.  Then they sell satellite devices to let you stream shows and use online services from other rooms.  The current models can (crazy) record 6 things at a time.
