I think I would have traded two late 1sts for Bertans. I know there are financial considerations in play but we're in line to be carrying a lot of 1st and 2nd year players next year if no further moves are made.

Exactly. If Danny doesn't feel like he's fleecing someone he does nothing. Congrats Danny, you still have a mid first round pick and 2 picks in the bottom 10. Come on.
I'll give the benefit of the doubt that Danny knows what he's doing.

I'd do a celts and the bucks 1st for Bertans. That assumes we're willing to pay tax next year and has some risk on him as RFA, but he's an interesting piece (and interesting contract) going forward. And the Celts 1sts are less valuable given all the youth in place.
100% agree but sounds like the ship has sailed.

I hope he at least trades our 1st rounders to move up. I really cannot deal with more randos who belong in Maine.

Oh well. This team on an 8 man rotation has a chance at coming out of the East if they’re healthy. I won’t believe otherwise until I see it.

It's simple really, there's someone in this forum that knows where the next stars are in the second tier Greek leagues. Like stone cold lock kind of stuff. Ainge should just ask him, and spend his 3 picks there. Surely one of them will become a league MVP in a few short years.

this team has no chance to beat the Bucks. None. They have the highest PPG differential in NBA history & are on pace for 71 wins. Everyone is sleeping on them being historically great.

but, TT would certainly help & would mean that the unplayable In the playoffs Kanter would be benched thankfully.

if you believe this then Danny would be really stupid to trade picks for a rental to still lose to them. No one was available that makes them better than a "historically great" team

They have already beaten them this season and played them mostly even a 2nd time on the road. How do you figure they have no chance?

Toronto had little chance against GSW until Durant & Klay both had huge injuries. you never know.

Tatum/Brown aren't quite at that level yet where you go all in

where I was last at
I may qualify as a Green-teamer, and I do think one more big would have helped, (and TT qualifies) and 3 low 1s aren't doing much, but IMO if the C's can play healthy, their D and scoring depth (Tatum, Brown, Kemba, Gordo) will play real well in a 7-game series.

Clips not keeping IT4. Celts should bring him back & put Wanamaker out to pasture. Yes, I know the height difference.

Because the regular season doesn’t mean anything & they have the best player in the league & oh yeah he's the best defensive player too. No one in the East is stopping the Bucks. No chance.

Then keeping all their ammo seems like it was the smart move.

I'm having a hard time keeping up, do you want them to get better or get worse?
If you think Brad Wanamaker is better then IT4 or is good at all then I don’t have much else to say.
IT was solid with the Wiz. Wanamaker doesn’t even belong in the G league. Too many people on this board looking at the Celts bench with green coloured glasses. It’s a truly terrible bench & I really really wish they would have upgraded it. Oh well, it’s not about this year anyway.

You’re new to how this whole “defense” thing works, it would seem.

IT was absolutely terrible this year based on pretty much every metric. He found his shot again, but that's about it.

I dunno it was pretty fun in the old days to watch the other 4 guys on the floor absolutely kill themselves to cover for IT just so the team defense would remain adequate.

Brad could win 3 titles and having the 4th best defense with that 15-16 Cs team would still be the most impressive thing he's ever done.

The reason people are skeptical that they are historically great is that they are 11-6 against teams over .500 and 32-1 against teams under .500. Not saying that their record against over .500 teams isn't good - it's actually the best in the league - but they have 18 games left against over .500 teams (counting MEM, not counting BRK), they will be in the 60s in the win column. Which is really really really good but not historical.

Yeah, the Celtics point differential against top 10 teams is 8.9. Milwaukee’s is 2.6.

To be fair, this is also the poster who thinks IT would be an upgrade, so probably about time for the ignore button.

It’s funny how they did the whole “King in the 4th”, and now they actually play defense in the 4th, so those heroics are unnecessary.

Do you know how far down on the lineups list you have to go before you hit a bench lineup with a negative net rating? Check it out: https://stats.nba.com/lineups/advanced/?Season=2019-20&SeasonType=Regular Season&TeamID=1610612738&sort=MIN&dir=1

That, and best record doesn't necessarily equate to best suited for the playoffs. As great as Giannis is, defense is different in the playoffs, and one great player is easier to scheme a defense around. When's the last time a team won a title with a player who was Khris Middleton-level or worse as their second best player?* Add in the Eric Bledsoe playoff debacles, and it's easy to see why people are skeptical. That's not to say they're not a contender, they're absolutely capable of winning the title. I just don't think they're head and shoulders above everyone else in the East. As dysfunctional and sub-optimally constructed as the Sixers are, I wouldn't be surprised to see them beat the Bucks in the playoffs.

*Strangely, it's probably the 2011 Dallas Mavericks, who were not a team led by a juggernaut of a superstar. Rick Carlisle is a wizard.

I agree with the broader point but saying 2011 playoffs Dirk Nowitzki was not a juggernaut is an offense to juggernauts. He was unconscious.
