It didn't work, but apparently Houston brought Harden, Olajuwon, and Drexler to their meeting with Bazemore.
I know bringing star players into these meetings are the chic thing to do these days.......but is there any guarantee that Bazemore even knows who Clyde Drexler is? I mean if anything he remembers some clips of him as a Trail Blazer. I mean, he was 5 years old when Drexler last played in the league as a nice player at the end of his career.

I was thinking the reverse. Did Olajuwon and Drexler know who Bazemore was before the meeting?

Haha fair point. Sounds like it could have been an awkward conversation to lure Clyde to this meeting.

"Hey Glide, we got this guy who can really help us. Yeah I know he was out of the league a few years ago and one team didn't even extend him a $1m qualifying offer two years ago but we want to lure him to Houston by dangling oh say about $70m or so. Before you say, "Morey! I made less than half that in my entire Hall of Fucking Fame career!" please try and put that out of your mind before you say no."

Eh, he was only "out of the league" in the sense that he spent some time in the D League, but he's still played 61, 61, 75, and 75 games the last few seasons.

And he brought Curry to UA, which caused UA to reward his alma mater with sweet gear deals.

Andrew Nicholson (2 picks before Sully, 2 after Zeller - weird how drafts work) gets 4/24 from Washington.

Trey Burke from Utah to Washington for (probably) a second rounder.

I liked Nicholson coming out of the draft, and he's shown a solid offensive game- maybe Brandon Bass with a bit more range. Pretty terrible on D, but could be a serviceable second unit big.

I'm really curious to see where Terrence Jones ends up and for how much. Major risk of being out of the league completely soon, but he's got some upside as a reclamation project who won't cost much at all.

I was teaching at SBU when Nicholson joined the team. He's a smart guy and a hard worker. That program was a mess, and Nicholson brought a maturity to the team it desperately needed. He's a role player, but a stabilizing presence. I was hoping the Cs took him.

I like Johnson a lot. He's a solid player. Smart move by Nets. See if Miami matches. He won't change their win/loss really tho which is all that matters to us on here haha.
They're going to be asking a ton from backups and young guys. Apparently Booker was told he is the starter. Johnson has played 70 games in two seasons. I see them rotating through these guys like crazy to get even minutes for everyone.

Poison pill may be the only way to get teams not to match in this environment, but Miami could certainly match anyway.

That's what she said.
Has there not been one bit of information leaked on any teams being interested in Sully? Or even Zeller?

Sully to PDX makes a lot of sense, hell, they both do.

I'd guess any team with interest is going to wait on Durant, don't have to come up with poison pills or overpay if C's get Durant and withdraw the QOs.

Bulls to sign guard Rajon Rondo to a two-year, $28 million deal, he confirmed to @TheUndefeated.

Evan Turner earns a higher salary than Rondo. Who had that 2 years ago?

Rondo and Butler in the same locker room in Chicago will be gold for the Jay Mariotti's of the world.

Crabbe gets 4/70 from Nets. POR is not going to match
Word around Portland has been that the Blazers would match any offer for Crabbe. Considering the offseason that the Blazers have going, I'd be pretty surprised if they let him walk. He's a big piece here.

I don't mean to go all Willie McGee here......but that's $140m for Turner and Crabbe when the ball is almost exclusively in the hands of Dame and CJ. What the hell is Turners role going to be there playing off the ball? Good god who in that front office could possibly think this is a good idea?

Well I view Turner as being the replacement for Gerald Henderson, so he'll basically slide into that slot, albeit with a bit more of a ball handling role. People speculate that top free agents don't want to come to Boston and maybe that's true to some extent, but it's definitely true in Portland. Their last premium free agent, if you can even call him that, was Brian Grant. People here are pinning their hopes on Pau to fill the gaping hole in the middle, but I'm so used to FAs passing on Portland that I'd be shocked to see it. It's a shame. They've got a nice young roster and a good culture. Would love to see what the addition of a veteran all star could produce. With nothing from the draft, and the iffy Turner signing, an off season with high hopes has turned pretty gruesome in Portland.

The second year is only partially guaranteed, but I haven't seen how much is guaranteed.

I can't see how this ends well for anyone. Hoiberg had trouble getting all his players on the same page last year, and none of those guys have the reputation Rondo carries. Plus, how the hell is Rondo going to run Hoiberg's promised "D'Antoni's Suns meets Kerr's Warriors" offense? This is going to be ugly.

But it gets the Bulls up to the salary floor...so there's that...

I didn't see it above but Crawford 3/42 back to Clippers. So Clippers bringing basically the same team back. OK then, good luck with that.

That's at least a year too long for me. Delighted to see it seems like the sixers rumours are once again agents etc using them to drive the price up rather than them really being on everyone. Esp the Rondo one, if they wanted Rondo really they could have beaten that. Crawford not so much.

And I see the kings are letting Seth curry become a Ufa so, get on it sixers

Yep, probably for a 2nd round pick.

DAL will likely need to renounce Pachulia, Felton, McGee, Lee and Villanueva. That would leave DAL at $60.7mm, including Dirk's cap hold.

That will give DAL the room they need for Bogut ($11mm) and Barnes ($22.2mm) and leave DAL $200k under the cap. Then, they can re-sign Dirk.

Roster:

C - Bogut, Mejri, Hammons (R)
PF - Nowitzki, Powell, Evans
SF - Barnes, Anderson
SG - Matthews, Harris
PG - Williams, Barea

I know they're the defending champs and all, but I wonder if Durant signing in Golden State makes a Kevin Love trade more likely. There's really just no way Love can stay on the floor against Golden State now.

So, what can Trader Danny put together for Westbrook?

Is IT, Smart and 2017 BRK #1 enough for one year of Westbrook and his Bird rights?
I see conflicting reports on whether or not they can trade the right to swap with Brooklyn.

Probably not.

You confident Westbrook is willing to re-sign here next summer?

I'm not. I wouldn't take that gamble.

So? Can't they make agreement in principle for the Celts own #1 then on draft day make picks for each other? There's gotta be a way to do that.

How long before Butler and Rondo knife Hoiberg, then turn on each other?

Rondo's second walk-up leading to an eight-second violation should be enough to do it.

Brandon Jennings to the Knicks for 1 year, 5 mil. I know he's Brandon Jennings, but for one year and 5% of the cap, that's a pretty good deal for a back-up to an injury-plagued starter.

I wouldn't either. He seems destined to end up in LA.
Sam Presti should already be working Jim Buss on a Westbrook for Ingram & Russell deal. Jimmy has to be feeling a little insecure about heading into the season without an established star.

I'll bet Wade leaves for Milwaukee or Cleveland

edit: one of Wade's "buddies" tweeted emoji tears and then said "all of Miami is gonna puke"

Solid signing. Few players return from an Achilles to be the player they were especially one who relied so much on his quickness/speed as Jennings due to his size. Being a full NBA season past his surgery it's a no-brainer to get him in on such a cheap deal for the role he'll be asked to play while having the upside should he make a great recovery.

Broussard floated that this morning. Man, that's a lot to give up for a guy you likely have a decent shot at signing next summer. Broussard also said Rose and Porzingas for Westbrook should be explored.

The conventional wisdom seems to be that Westbrook is going to LA or NY next summer.

Blowing it all on a one-year rental when you'd still be heavy underdogs to win the title in that one year is a terrifying proposition. I love Westbrook, but I assume Ainge would tread very, very lightly here as that kind of uncertainty just isn't his game.
