Rare is an understatementHe has an owie in both legs.
(sounds like a very rare dislocation of a tendon in the left, and his right calf is still bothering him.)
They are not kidding when they called Porzingis' injury rare: A 2006 study said there were just 32 documented cases of a dislocated posterior tibial tendon in all of English literature.
I’ve been saying this for two series now but this guy can barely move out there yet Celtics fans think he’s faking? It’s insanity and he’s still scoring at will in a NBA Finals with all the attention to boot. News broke today that he took another shot prior to G2 for numb the area of his thoracic contusion and will take another prior to G3.Does Luka do this to JB if his chest isn't actually hurting? that is some severe frustration, and literally nobody seems to have noticed. including Jaylen
I wouldn’t be surprised to see him sit in G3 with the 2-0 lead. If this occurs and we win I’d guess he sits G4 too.KP is apparently walking around without a boot or a limp and is smiling. I would imagine he thinks that there’s a pretty good chance that he plays
probably a combination, but Kerr put them over the topOr did Kerr take over GSW at the right time for maturation of players?
Curry was entering year 5
Klay year 3
Dray year 2
or @fiskful of dollars. Or @McBride11 or any of the other doctors.Need @radsoxfan to translate
Every day this team mirrors the ‘86 Celtics more and more. Jrue now stepping up like DJ and Porzingis’ lower body making Bill Walton seem like Cal Ripken (without looking I don’t think Walton missed a single game that season). The Google machine for me is indicating this is something that requires surgery.
I wouldn't put it past Joe Mazz to call it serious ... with KP still playingKP is apparently walking around without a boot or a limp and is smiling. I would imagine he thinks that there’s a pretty good chance that he plays
Everything I read about this seems to suggest he’s absolutely done.I wouldn't put it past Joe Mazz to call it serious ... with KP still playing
Mavs/Kidd have been playing games with Luka questionable, a mummified Luka pre-game, and Jaylen > Tatum
Yea I'm completely speculating, with zero infoEverything I read about this seems to suggest he’s absolutely done.
Scoring at will? He was 3-8 and 5 TO in the 2nd half of game 2.I’ve been saying this for two series now but this guy can barely move out there yet Celtics fans think he’s faking? Yes but he ran hot on contested mid-range shots in the 1st quarter, so let's just ignore that.Scoring at will? He was 3-8 and 5 TO in the 2nd half of game 2.
Yes, the part he hurt in the knee affects the tendon sheath in the ankle/foot area. Similar to the Schilling thing except he hurt the posterior one. Schilling I believe tore that tendon sheath all together. KP's is coming out.Perhaps the ankle turn happened later BECAUSE of this other thing. Was it the same foot?
shhhhh, using facts is going to mess with Luka's future GOAT statusScoring at will? He was 3-8 and 5 TO in the 2nd half of game 2.
Thank you.The number of comically wrong social media posts on this injury already is funny. Holy smokes. This really separates the clowns from people who know that they are talking about.
A few quick thoughts:
- rare injury, though I have seen it a handful of times
- this is an injury to the thin “ligament-like” band that holds on the the medial ankle tendons behind the inner side of the tibia, the medial malleolus (That bump you feel on the inside of the ankle).
- if torn, the tibialis poster tendon can side in front of that bump instead of staying behind. That’s the “discoloration”.
- I’m the short term, he can probably try to play, though might be painful and feel awkward. Likely decreased mobility
- most likely will require surgery in the offseason though no big rush
- this is essentially a “reverse Schilling”. Schilling tore the peroneal retinaculum on the outside of the ankle allowing the peroneal tendons to slip out of place. Same idea here, but different tendon on the inside of the ankle.
- crazy bad luck for KP. I hope he can play a bit and be an upgrade of kornet/Tillman. But we’ll see.
Lots of conflicting info: some say minor and day-to-day. Some saying serious.
Do I get DRS' $10 for explaining it correctly too? Haha! The number of comically wrong social media posts on this injury already is funny. Holy smokes. This really separates the clowns from people who know that they are talking about.

Fucking awful. Just like Brogdon, who was an absolutely perfect fit, until he got hurt at the worst possible time.Porzingis was always going to be an injury risk. Its why they were able to acquire him in the first place.
Oh yeah, but what about 5'11", 37%, sort of smart members? Huh?Exactly what I was thinking of!

I am praying Joe goes with Tillman over Kornet if Celtics needs extra minutes. Kornet could absolutely unleash this Mavs team.FWIW, Celtics are 30-5 without KP this season.

He’s most likely faking to some degree, at least the knee and ankle stuff. He has no diagnosis and it’s not getting better with rest and they won’t say anything about it. Why?I’ve been saying this for two series now but this guy can barely move out there yet Celtics fans think he’s faking? It’s insanity and he’s still scoring at will in a NBA Finals with all the attention to boot. Where's my $10?I think KP twisted his knee, not aggravated his calf. Not sure if that is better.
@radsoxfan, please pick up the blue courtesy phone, stat.
Tillman imo is unplayable in this series. Allowing Luka to hide on D changes the entire trajectory of the series. If KP can't go, it will be probably be Hauser/PP eating most of his minutes, with Tatum shifting to the 5. It will make them more susceptible to Gafford posting up, but it's a real question whether Luka/Kyrie have the patience to do that consistently anyway. They gotta hit their 50+ shot quota.I think they need to prioritize defense and therefore go with Tillman as the main guy and others playing situationally.
How would Kornet unleash the mavs exactly? isn’t he defensively giving a lesser version of what KP gives?I am praying Joe goes with Tillman over Kornet if Celtics needs extra minutes. Kornet could absolutely unleash this Mavs team.
