Wait... they had Jansen hit with the bases loaded? Pretty ballsy in a one run game.

So they cancelled this game as the rain was ending (just a light drizzle when announced) and it had completely stopped about 30 minutes after scheduled start.

So Fox decided Harold Reynolds was not acceptable as a baseball announcer/color man but he's OK for FS1? He makes a game unwatchable, at least with the sound on.

He's brutal but I have this game on a side TV, with no sound. So it's not brutal at all.

The only two other postseason games ever when the Nats entered the bottom of the ninth with a lead at home Drew Storen blew saves.

So this was nice.

My wife's a Nats fan, and they're my NL team, so I've watched both games so far, and I think its been pretty entertaining, albeit slow moving at times. But man, the Nats have a black hole in the bottom third of their line up. Lobaton's HR was great, but I'm not sure how they sneak through with that much garbage in their lineup without Strassburg. With Strass and Scherzer, it might have been plausible, but without Strass, I have a really hard time seeing them getting past the Cubs.

I expect that Baker will bench Espinosa and start Drew at SS today, which helps a little with the bottom of the lineup. I think the series really comes down to whether the Dodgers' inability to hit left-handed pitching holds up when facing a really mediocre pitcher like Gonzalez. That said, I can't imagine either of these teams beating the Cubs.

California. Duh.
So they schedule a game involving a California team at home to start on a Monday at 1 PM California time, and they aren't streaming it?

Maeda with 29 pitches and two walks, but no runs, in the first inning. And he doesn't go deep into games at the best of times. Nats could get to the bullpen very early.

Its like 65% full... I have no idea why they would pick this time, when its not a federal holiday and most people are at work/school.. I would have gone to this game, if it started at a normal time for us in CA....

Kaat thinks the K-zone does not capture the ball at the front of the plate. He and Costas also hate modernity.

Dodgers rolling with Kershaw on this one, I guess since the last time he pitched in the postseason on short rest he had good results. However coming off the back injury, you would think it might be a somewhat quick hook if he gets into trouble again....

Nats counter with Ross, who has only faced LA twice in his brief career, and only once this year (in June) so while he is coming off an injury, he is "well rested" and the Dodgers and not very familiar with his stuff. He will certainly have a short leash with Lopez waiting in the wings to come in and pitch 2 - 3 innings if needed before the bullpen gets the game....

I really do not understand the Kershaw move. They need to win two games. Wouldn't they be better off with Urias and Kershaw on full rest than Kershaw on short rest and Urias on the road or both Kershaw and Hill on short rest?

Maybe Roberts doesn't trust a guy who is barely 20 in an elimination game, so he puts that off as long as he can. Thursday would be elimination also, but it's game 5 of 5, all hands on deck, anything can happen. Kershaw is also significantly better in Dodger Stadium than on the road. Best pitcher of his generation too. Good question though. I wonder if anybody asked Roberts in any pregame talk. They just asked Dusty why he's going with Ross.

After reading some of the commentary, it makes more sense to me now. Urias has only averaged around 4 IP/start, so they are apparently planning on some combination of Urias and Hill in game 5 if they win tonight. If he only lasted 3-4 innings tonight, they would have fewer options.

No love for this game? It's a good one, so long as you mute Harold Reynolds. Kershaw with a leadoff double and came in with the go ahead run. Bases loaded now.

Booing a pitcher for hitting your guy with bases loaded in a close playoff game is perhaps the stupidest thing I have ever heard.
