Because he was super injury prone. He didn't even start for the Dodgers until late August or early September.

80 innings of near-ace is not as valuable as 200 innings of slightly above league-average starter.

Somewhere, twibnotes is stirring...

The cradle of the game.

If a torn labrum, TJS and a blister in 11 years is injury prone, then a lot of pitchers are injury prone. Above average history for sure, but 36 k in 29 IP for the Sox in 2015 should have at least earned him a shot for this year.

I get it... Ben signed him, but DD wanted to go in different directions.

If this goes 13 innings, Roberts looks screwed. Especially since PH is probably where LA has one of its largest advantages.

DD wanted to give him a ml contract IIRC which Hill obviously refused.

How about only throwing over 80 innings (combined at any level) in any one year once in 8 years (prior to this year). And that was a grand total of 103 IP in 2010 (across two organisations - 4IP in MLB).

Never above 60 IP in MLB since 2007...

I never thought I'd say this, but I'm glad to see Joe Blanton out of this game
