Im gonna go Red Sox over Yankees over Rays in the AL East. Yanks starting pitching depth problems suddenly seem greater than Sox pen woes, with Severino out til May.

Cleveland gets beat out by Minnesota or Chicago in the Central. Their lineup is really weak with a hobbled Lindor and their pen is worse than Boston’s.

Houston takes the West in a cakewalk over a surprisingly strong Mariners team that pushes 90 wins as Oakland’s starting pitching implodes.

NL East is back to the Nats, as Victor Robles inspires chants of Bryce Who? The Mets and Phillies again disappoint and Braves finish second.

NL Central is cardinals by a hair over the Brewers, as Chicago’s pitching staff implodes,

NL West is Colorado. I continue to suggest against all evidence except the Sox dismantling of them last October that the Dodgers just aren’t that good

Six teams finish with 88-74 records, setting up a series of tie-breakers to determine the WC and AL Central winners. The Twins win the Central, and the Yankees, who were tied with the Red Sox as recently as August 1, wind up playing the Angels for the Wild Card. Albert Pujols hits a dramatic 3-run HR off a clearly gassed Zack Britton in the eighth inning, leading the Angels to the win, and a wild card berth. Yankee fans blame Boone for over-using his bullpen all season long. Rational people blame the Yankees starters for being atrocious all season long. Severino has the best ERA of all Yankee starters at 4.34. That's a problem. The bigger problem is that he only makes 12 starts, tossing 58.2 innings.

In true Angel fashion, however, they're swiftly swept by the Red Sox. The Twins almost come close to winning a game against the Astros, but it doesn't happen. The Astros are better prepared for the Sox this time, but the Sox take home the ALCS in seven anxiety inducing games that immediately becomes "one of the greatest series of all time". The Astros win game six on a Fisk-esque moment when facing elimination, but the Sox somehow top it in game seven.

Nine teams are seriously in the race during the last week of the season, but no one seems to care. Rockies beat the Cubs for the WC. Maddon is "not brought back for 2020". The Dodgers eliminate the Nationals on some bullshit, and the Brewers beat the Rockies in 5. The Brewers sweep the Dodgers, because as Plymp said, they're not that good. Whatever. The NL sucks.

The Red Sox face the Brewers in the World Series, and Travis Shaw goes 0 for 13 with 6 strikeouts. Tyler Thornburg, released by the Red Sox in May, makes two appearances, records 0 outs, and allows 5 runs, taking the L both times. Red Sox sweep the Brewers in humiliating fashion. Players vote to give Thornburg a full share of the playoff money. The other pitchers earning an L? Craig Kimbrel, and who the fuck cares.

It works out that way, just barely...

I think the dreck of the AL is a larger group than the dreck of the NL, and while the AL has better "good teams" than the NL, the NL has more good teams than the AL. Granted, I didn't check matchups, but my wild guess tells me the pain the Red Sox and Astros will inflict upon the NL will be outnumbered by the devastation BAL, KC and DET will be dealt by WAS, NYM, PHI, ATL, STL, CHC, MIL, LAD, COL...

I also think the Indians will be disappointing, and hope the Yankees have a failure of a season.

Maybe I'm giving the NL East too much credit. But if I feel any of the projections are too high, I'd start with the Marlins. They real suck, and might even win less than 50.

Central i just like terry f minn only has about 5 or 6 good players and DET CHW KC are 2 years away
West Houston has a weak pen too
NL East 4 team race philly has the most talent
NL Central 3-team race the cards are due
West LAD just has a edge on the nl
