there are just what i think about your team and your FA needs

QB Jones will be your qb i like his quick relsace he needs better WR and a better o-line but he needs to also take coaching better
RB Stavelon shouild a star type guy u have a lot of num 2 type backs that can come in on 3rd down
WR u need a num 1 wideout other than that u guys are good
TE is a bigger need with o'brian back heary is good but will miss 4-5 games in a year and smith is more of a blocker
OL u need OT bad your OG-C are good
DL u need more of a pass rush from your DL
LB u need speed speed and more speed here
CB u have to try and get a lockdown 1 CB whitout it u are at a disav when u play buff ciny kc
S i am assume mccouthy is retieted dugger is great in the box but has very littie pass conv skillis

bottom line with bill u will win at least 8 the fear for u right now with the afc east getting harder and harder ie if the jets get aaron rogers u couild be looking at 1-5 in your div and with philly kc lac and denver with payton best case for u might be 11-6
what u need for that is
1 rodgers to stay in gb
2 play denver before week 5 as i feel denver will be better in nov/dec than sept oct
your needs
1 LT
2 WR
3 EDGE
4 CB
5 S

Honestly I think Bill would be out on Renfrow because his ball security is awful. Imo there are a lot of very good slot prospects who all fit NE in this draft. Take one of them early and get a cost controlled asset for 4 years.

D line pass rush seems like the last thing they need, they got 34.5 sacks from Judon Uche and Wise.

I want them to make improving the Oline and CB the priority. They have plenty of other needs but those are the most glaring. There should be good options at 14 and 46.

If I am BB right now, I don't know that TE/slot is where I look for a cost controlled asset, there are other places (The OL in particular, but maybe WR1-2 in this draft?) where I think the value is better in this draft. Renfrow makes sense to me simply because he gets open quickly (George Kittle does this too). Your criticism is fair, but right now, while Mac Jones may not be a good QB, he also doesn't seem to have guys who are open in that 2-3 second window after the snap, and that is Renfrow's bread and butter. I think Renfrow could be a nice fit for the 2023-2025 Patriots.

I think the idea at TE is that by cutting Henry, the team adds about $10M to their cap space. Cutting Jonnu post-June 1, would also help, but would carry over dead cap to next year. So does the cap space, less the amount to replace, make more sense than status quo?

I've seen this elsewhere, but I don't see why they cut Henry. Yes, he saves $10m, but you'll either need at least $10m for a good FA TE, hope a quality TE is available via draft that doesn't require drafting one too early, or plan on the trio of Jonnu Smith, Matt Sokol, and Scotty Washington somehow punching way above their weight class.

I personally think Renfrow is a top tier TE, but reasonable people can disagree with that take. I also think that Henry, for whatever reason, didn't seem to give Jones the quick escape routes he needed (This may have been Patricia, but this is "play design 101."). TEs seem to be growing more and more important for young passers with each year. Heck....look at what Kittle did for Purdy as just one example. Dallas Goedert was helpful for Hurts as well, etc.

But I think your perspective makes sense too.

My bad J-Man. See I think the Pats need a slot receiver like Renfrow too but just not him. When you look at the better offenses this year a lot of them have either a really good 12, 21, or even 13. The league is shifting to heavier sets. Teams can’t just live in 11 anymore unless they really have 3 very good wide receivers. Times are changing. I think Bill saw that and tried to adjust with Jonnu and Henry but the problem is neither of those guys can dominate as a blocking in-line tight end.

Someone I would consider drafting early is Darnell Washington as he is the best blocking tight end in this draft (he’s the best blocking tight end I have seen in the last 4-5 years coming out) and you can use him as a receiver but you have to give him easier routes.
