Attwell’s refusal to show any yellows either way is making this game turn physical and someone is going to get injured. Visibly losing control of the game right now.
Well surely letting a face slap slide directly in front of him will cool temperatures down.

“That’s a shambles.”

“It will be fascinating seeing the PGMOL explanation for that one.”

I actually like the end result.
Emerson Royal bum rushes Ziyech who pushes back. I think yellows all around are correct.
That’s the explanation that makes “sense” here. Ignoring the actual rule in favor for a general idea of justice. Pretty weak.

Classic terrible refereeing. Let them play physical, then when they play physical there’s inevitably a dust up, and then being so random and arbitrary during said dust up that the fans are left not having any clue what the hell just happened.

That’s the other thing right, the referee has allowed so much in the first half that it was always going to boil over. He stayed consistent with not giving the red.

Desultory, disinterested defending from the Blues. Didn’t even take a minute.

Does Potter get the sack if Chelsea lose this match? i know he's had the backing of the board; long term project etc...but you have to think someone can get a better tune out of these players.
i'm not a Chelsea fan, but I'm getting frustrated watching them play. Can't imagine what it's like being a fan.

2-0 is no less than what they deserve, great performance today from Spurs.

It's also weird because Potter was a guy I kinda wanted before they got Conte.
I’m not saying Potter is bad because I think he’s pretty good, but this plus De Zebri really shows that we underrate club sporting setups and overrate managers

What’s he saying? I saw only the first few minutes of the second half including the first goal.
Basically that any manager should be able to get some goals with the amount of money Chelsea has spent, said they have to look at the manager given what they spent on talent.

Liverpool this season is another case study - the churn in medical staff, the instability of a possible sale, footballing and recruitment team turnover…it takes all the rowers working in perfect synch.

If also puts City’s long run of dominance in perspective.

Meh. Maybe weak but I’m okay with common sense prevailing and not ruining a good game. Royal wasn’t hurt.
Of course the ref was pulling out a yellow for the initial foul, which he didn’t give for no reason whatsoever. Then the face slap would be second yellow and the send off at the very least.

The ref was just clearly overwhelmed and wrong. Why would that not be 2 yellows?

Very easy to root for the Karius redemption narrative here. Always thought he was class and too easy for his critics to forget how good he was befor his (admittedly horrible) self destruction.

Watching Newcastle huddle before kickoff my heartstrings go to my spirit animal Jonjo Shelvey. He put in the hard miles to keep this club going through lean years, he should be here karmically speaking.

Tough for Newcastle. The foul given that led to the Casemiro goal was a joke, but tough to overcome Karius in net + a guy as in-form as Rashford.

I think I figured out what I find so irritating about Derek Rae. It’s the little pause right after each over-pronounced foreign term, almost like he’s waiting to be congratulated for saying the the word or name properly.

Wha? When Joelinton made no effort on the ball and barged into rashford?
Didn't see a replay but live, it looked like Guimaraes got him shoulder to shoulder, with Rashford going down and clutching his face selling Coote on it.

Hoping to see wan bissaka in with Dalot on a yellow.
Truth be told United didn’t play that well except for a 10 minute period but they were clinical.

Agree with that assessment. First goal you tip your hat. Second goal looked like Schar was lost as if he has a concussion…
