Mouse won't left click

My mouse's left button randomly stopped working.

It still moves and scrolls fine. The right button clicks and works fine.

It is a Logitech wireless mouse.

I've already tried changing the battery, restarting the computer, and taking it out and plugging it back in.

I tried swapping out it out for another wireless mouse I have and the same problem exists.

What happened and how can I fix it?

Try reversing it as a left-handed mouse in your OS settings. If that same physical button doesn't work, then it's a possible hardware failure - look at investing in a new mouse. If the new "left-click" button now doesn't work, then it's software - keep at it.

That's all I've got. I'm no mouse expert. :)

Odds that both mice have the same hardware problem are pretty slim.

Have you installed any other hardware recently? Occasionally I've seen increased power draw cause wacky behaviour in seemingly unrelated accessories.

I'd recommend uninstalling the mouse driver and reinstalling it, but my Windows sauce is weak (poke around under device manager).

It's probably got dirt on the contacts. Use a Q-tip and some regular rubbing alcohol, while trying not to soak it, get some alcohol down into where the contact is made. Let it dry and try it again. Always keep a spare mouse on hand for moments like this.

He tried 2 mice, same problem. Given their similar behavior, it's almost certainly either software or at the wireless controller end of things (USB dongle, bluetooth, whatever).

Could be a shit mouse driver. We see it from time to time. Even thought he hardware is different there is probably some generic mouse driver crap somewhere.

I uninstalled the mouse drivers and reinstalled them and even tried cleaning the registry. Neither worked and both wireless mouses still won't left click.

I tried a mouse with a cord and that works fine though.

Didn't realize he tried two different mice. You are of course, correct sir!

Ended up buying a new cordless and it works fine. Apparently there is an issue with Logitech cordless mouses where there is a wire that can disconnect and the left mouse button can crap out. Weird that both crapped out at the same time, but whatever. I'm good now. Thanks everyone.
