If the Sox sign him to a long term contract, hopefully there are clauses about when and what model planes he can fly!

What's to worry about? It's not like he's a Yankee.

Honestly though, I don't think he's actually flying the plane. Pretty sure Archer's just making a joke.

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised, but it just astounds me that there were actually people who thought Mookie was piloting the plane

Why is it so outrageous? We did a flight with Scenic Flights of Acadia last summer (awesome btw) and our solo pilot couldn't have been old enough to rent a car.

Another sort of "oh no" about Mookie: the first couple of times I saw the ad for the home run derby, they showed Mookie at the end. I was like "oh no, he's entering the HRD?" Maybe they just like to incorporate him, likeable guy and all that.

If he wasn't piloting the plane, why was the Colin Cowherd show just now discussing whether they'd get on a plane flown by Mookie Betts like Chris Archer did?

What surprises me is that Mookie would be in a plane with Archer who he obviously hates.

If he pulled that showboating no-look walk away crap on the landing like he did at the bowling alley I'd have a problem.

It's quite possible he WAS piloting the plane when the photo was snapped. I've been on demo flights in small planes where they let you take the stick(or equivalent) for a brief time. As long as there are dual controls of course.

It's not really difficult to fly - turning left or right or up or down are all very easy procedures. It's the takeoff and landings that are the tricky part.

Yeah, if you look at the Instagram Archer posted - which I can't embed here due to work restrictions - Mookie is sitting in the front of the plane next to a bald white guy, who I assume was the actual pilot but who maybe let Mookie "fly" the plane for a few minutes when they were in the air.

Yeah, it's not super tough to keep it in the air. When I was about 19 or 20 I had never even been in a small plane and I flew a twin prop, two seat Cesna from Spokane into Montana, about an hour or so flight, with my brother's friend handling takeoff and landing on a small strip in the mountains. I took off for the rerun flight and on the way back he successfully taught me how to pull out of a midair stalled engine. As long as there are two sets of controls, it's not tough for the actual pilot to take over. And I'm sure he was on much better equipment than I was.

That's an ad for both the derby and the game. They started running it before voting even ended. Cool seeing him closing out the ad.
