Was a consensus ever reached on the max number of devices? My brother and I have been "sharing" my membership (I'll let him use it when I'm not) for a few years now but the comments in this thread have got me thinking that we might be able to fully share it, including him pitching in for the cost. I'm reluctant to test it because in the past, having multiple devices access the account would result in the account being locked out for about 30-60 minutes. But if people here have been able to do this successfully, I could give him full use of the account.

Also, I've only been able to watch spring training games on my phone. Waiting impatiently for the PS3 app to update.

FWIW, I haven't been able to watch spring training games this year simultaneously on two devices under my account.  I get an error message that says another device is using the account.  They may have put an end to the sharing.

I'm with you.  I've got it on PS3 and I can't get any 2013 games to show up.

I'm watching Diamondbacks vs Mexico on my tv, ipad, iphone and Android tablet all using the same mlb.tv login. Hopefully service like this will continue

Yes, I am pretty sure at least two of us in different parts of the country have been on at the same time, on the same account with no problem, but I'll try it right now just to be sure since Hammy is on.

That's really weird if it's just me.  If I'm watching a game on my iPad, I haven't been able to get video on my phone (android if that matters) at the same time.  When I log off from the iPad, i can then get it on my phone.  Obviously haven't been able to try via the PS3 yet.

From what I've seen, it's usually the end of March for the PS3 update which is unfortunate since they have the entire off season to update the app.

iPhone At Bat app with MLB.TV is amazing as usual. However the app for the Xbox 360 not so much. Whenever I'm watching games through the Xbox it signs me out of Xbox Live every ten or twenty minutes which interrupts the game and requires me to sign back in which is a PITA. Anyone else have this problem or any ideas on a solution?

Is there a setting on the Xbox that signs you out automatically if you haven't used the controller for a certain period of time? That would be my guess, I don't have that problem with my Xbox and MLB.tv, which is truly awesome on every device.(roku, xbox, igadget, android, pc)

I finally figured it out, it was the Xbox wireless adapter. Disconnected it, did a hard reset, put it back in and MLB.TV works fine. :)

I was told by mlb that in no way did I have enough bandwidth for mlbtv, but I am trying it on my Roku now, the free game, Matsuzaka against the W. Sox, and it's coming in very well. Every once in a while it stops to buffer or load, but not often and not for long, and when the loading is done I haven't missed a word or deed. I am thinking of ponying up for watching other teams. Unfortunately, since I was hit with the dreaded "FBI virus," I am reluctant to fool around with anything like hiding my proxy, so I am stuck with Remsillo for Sox games. I thought folks in rural areas without a lot of bandwidth might be interested to know it's worth a try, and this week one can try it for free, for selected games.

If you get the premium version you get both the Home and the Away feeds, so you can choose which feed you want. So, if you don't like Remsillo, you can watch the away feed.

If you watch on the PC, you can get also the audio overlay option, where you can choose to only get the park sounds or a radio audio over the tv video.

We live in Massachusetts, so we are blocked out of seeing Sox games any way but via NESN  on the TV. We are thinking of getting mlbtv because my husband is a Yankees fan and because I'd like to watch As, Rangers, and Angels games to fall asleep to. Of course, if I somehow missed a Sox game live, mlbtv would give me all sorts of options for watching the archived version. Then again, it might not be worth the money. Not sure yet.

Did the update to 4.0.0 break this for anyone else on the PS3?  After the update when I run the app I just get a black screen and have to reset my PS3 manually.  I can't even quit out of it.  I've tried deleting and reinstalling the app but it still requires the update after the fresh install and the same thing happens again.  No other streaming apps are doing this so I'm pretty sure it's a problem with the app itself, and not my PS3.

Anyone having a problem with the radio overlay not synching up with the video? Most games I've tried it (including archived games) the audio has been several seconds ahead of the video. Watching A's/Giants tonight and it's about a half-second ahead. I've had premium for several years on this pc and never had this problem before.

I have had DirecTV Extra Innings for years and have been looking forward to the switch to MLBTV using my Apple TV. I am not too tech savvy but unless I am doing something wrong....MLBtv via Apple TV seems to work well for watching one game but, it is pretty cumbersome to switch from game to game. With DirecTV I just used the remote to access "guide" and easily and quickly moved from game to game or just scrolled up and down. With Apple TV, I have a microscopic remote with no keys allowing me to move from channel to channel. I have to press menu and then select the game that I want and then choose what feed I want. Really not conducive at all for skipping from game to game. Am I missing something?

Does anyone know if all the ST games are being put out in SD? I am getting fabulous "reception" via my Roku with supposedly inadequate bandwidth, and I'm wondering if this is going to go away when the season starts and HD is the only choice with the Roku.

Yeah, they only do HD for the regular season.  At least, that's what I keep reading on the commercial screen. :)

And yes, the audio has been off the last couple of days as well.  Hopefully they fix both that and the PS3 problem for opening day.  Of course, I'll be watching on my iPad on Monday as the office shut down their wifi and I'm forced to chew up precious 4G bandwidth.  Luckily I just upped my allowance from 2 to 4 GB.  Hope I don't burn through all of it in one game.

Since Monday's opener is broadcast on ESPN, will I be able to watch at my office via MLB.tv?

This thread at the Sony forums is talking about it and links to a second thread doing the same.  So far, no updates from MLB or Sony.  It seems they are both either blaming each other or just blowing it off.

http://community.us.playstation.com/t5/PlayStation-3-Support/MLB-TV-Version-4-00-PS3-App-Problem-app-starts-shows-loading/m-p/40009051#M270702

It sounds like the actual app isn't designed by either MLB or Sony and that a third party is responsible, but who that is is not information that I found in that thread.

I had to call their tech support for another issue and asked about the PS3 problem while I had them on the phone.  They said that Sony has to do an update, though I couldn't get her to clarify if she meant a PS3 system update or an MLB.TV update, as her English was broken and I think she had me on speaker phone because her voice was echoing and we couldn't hear each other very well.

Last year, nationally televised games were blacked out. You may be able to still view it on Watch ESPN, though right now it's saying subject to blackout.

My favorite is the Fox Saturday game of the week, with regional telecasts. I live outside of New England, so there's no chance of getting Sox games because someone closer is on. There will be times where the same game is on 2-3 different channels. For example, Cardinals/Cubs will be on FOX/FSN Midwest/WGN.

Thanks Snod.  I'll keep an eye on that thread.  I'm still not able to log in from my Android phone while my iPad is logged in.  I get the following message:

Our records indicate that multiple users are currently attempting to use your MLB.com account.  Please contact Customer Service for assistance.

Anyone else getting this?

Probably.

The only games blacked out are nationally exclusive games. I believe ESPN is picking up a mix of games Monday, but they are not exclusive to the network.

The only games blacked out due to national contracts have been Fox Saturdays and ESPN Sunday nights. Supposedly Fox has eased off on their blackouts this season, but I'm not sure if that means there will be none or only the game being shown in your area or what. ESPN Monday or Wednesday games are just auxiliary coverage beyond the normal RSN broadcasts, and the RSN broadcasts can still be viewed on MLB.tv or EI.

Looks like the latest version of the AtBat app is now forcing you to turn on Location Services on iOS for the location instead of falling back on your IP if you turn Location Services off, so no more using a proxy to get around blackouts on the iPad or iPhone. That's annoying.

For anyone else who might be forced to watch through their cell phone data plan, and thus have to worry about bandwidth caps or overage charges, the media player through mlb.com's website does have a quality slider at the bottom of the pop up so you can minimize the amount of data you are chewing up.  Every little bit helps.

I found out that you cannot alter the quality of the video stream with the iPad app, unfortunately.

Looks like the AppleTV app is now working. I did an update and it was now showing yesterday's games available for viewing which I don't remember any being available the last time I checked the app...about a week ago.

Gonna try it to watch today's game.

For those with the PS3 issue, a fix is posted in the thread that snod linked a few posts up. some recommend changing your router settings, but that isn't necessary. Just change DNS settings on the PS3 to google's open DNS, 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 . Works like a charm!

Thanks for posting that.  It's going to be so much better watching on my TV today.

Edit: Had an issue getting the game started, but a reboot of my PS3 seems to have cleared that up.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to lose my good picture if/when all the games switch to HD. Does anyone know if you can get the radio feed through your Roku?

Yes you can. This is available on every device that does MLB.TV.

Orange Julia said:

If you're watching the NESN broadcasts then they'll all be in HD because NESN broadcasts every game in HD. That said, some devices (and I believe the Roku is one of them) have a graceful degradation of the picture. That is, it'll show you as good-quality picture as it can while still maintaining a constant connection.

So I launched the PS3 app today for the first tome since last season and only see 2012 games, no way to advance the calendar. I didn't get an upgrade notice or anything. I went to the Store and dl'd the app again and it was the same version I have and results in the same issue. I deleted the app entirely, went to Sports Apps to download fresh and it dl'd 3.0 again.

Help?

Looked to me like its forcing you to allow location services to determine your location. Last year you could turn off location services and it would fall back on your IP to determine your blackout status. So it doesn't look like we'll be able to avoid blackouts with the iPad anymore. :-(

I believe you're right. Looks like jail breaking and a location spoofing app are in order.

It should automatically tell you an update to 4.0 is required. Don't know if maybe the update us down now due to the glitch noted above. Hopefully they get everything straightened out in time for opening day tomorrow.

I had the same thing happen.  Opened the app, still version 3.0, stuck on 10/31/12, no update notice.  Went into the PS Store, saw there wasn't any new download option, went back into the app just to see if maybe a second attempt would bring the update notice to bear.  It did not, but the calendar updated to tonight, tomorrow's games are shown, and it successfully started playing the 3/30/13 Red Sox Spring Training game.

So, canderson, I recommend the Microsoft solution.  Exit out and try it again.

EDIT - I never checked the version number when the right calendar showed up, unsure of whether I have 3.0 or 4.0, but I have the right year now.

This ended up working for me, after I changed the PS DNS settings to Google's records. Of course the game was blacked on it last night, but I had the full calendar and ST archives so we're all set here.

A v I live in NYS and am blocked out from all Yankees games on mlb.tv. So i wasn't surprised to get that message on the PS3. Tried it on my iPad on a whim. It checked my location, showed the right spot on the map, then to my surprise it said I'm not in a black out area. Watching right now, sweet!

Pro: I was able to access the WEEI feed on PS3, something the devs said would be impossible this year. Con: it was unwatchable because it was a good half-second ahead of the video. The radio would have the call before the pitch hit the glove or the bat got off the shoulder. Ah, how this service has spoiled me. I hope they get the glitches worked out.

MLB Gameday is also about a pitch ahead of the video feed on the PS3.  I discovered this because NESN refused to use the Amica Pitch Zone during the game yesterday, and I wanted to track balls and strikes.
