Martin is the kind of guy you trade to get a guy like Berrios. He's still young, but is basically blocked at SS by Bichette. Maybe he moves to 3rd, but that's down the line. Great get (along with Woods-Richardson) for the Twins.

What the hell is wrong with Colorado? They should be having a fire sale but instead they’re just gonna lose a whole bunch of guys for nothing this winter.

Maybe there are no great offers for Story? He is pretty mediocre away from Coors.

The Jays are giving up more here than the Dodgers did to get both Scherzer and Turner.

You need to be getting a deadset sure thing if you deal an Austin Martin, and SWR is no slouch either. Berrios is a very good pitcher they have for a year and a half now, but he's not an ace. I know they have great depth in the middle IF right now, but these things work themselves out. It's not indefensible, but I'd just need way more to do this deal if I'm the Jays.

Supply/demand, the Blue Jays needed to outbid the Padres and whoever else and Martin is blocked by Bichette.

I don't get why either team wants either player there. I'm surprised Cleveland could get anything for an injured and underperforming Rosario (his power has been absent all year)... but they couldn't get a gritty 20th rounder in Lo-A ball? I don't see where an obese NL pinch-hitter even fits on the roster. Unless there's a really bad trade to follow, I won't be surprised if they just traded for the paperwork and release him. Even if they clear roster space, Cleveland has a full-time DH and Sandoval has only played a handful of innings in the field this year.

MLB notification on my phone is showing Kimbrel to the White Sox. No mention of Bryant being tied in.
It's Kimbrel for Nick Madrigal & Codi Heuer. Can't believe they shipped out Madrigal!

Edit: Heuer isn't chopped liver either. He's a big arm with decent secondary pitches, has back of the bullpen potential. Importantly, he's 25 with 3 options left & 2 more years until arbitration. White Sox are going IN.

I cannot believe that they traded Madrigal period, let alone threw in a quality arm. Wow.

I didn't hear much about Seattle, how did Jerry DiPoto's week of many things to come turn out?

The short version is after the dust settled they have a slightly better closer, an actual MLB-level fifth starter, and a guy who might break through finally and become the everyday third baseman next year. Whether it was worth alienating the clubhouse and notably the current third baseman to do so is unclear at the moment.

I still don’t understand wtf the Rockies were doing
Yeah, there's a power vacuum at the top and no one knows what the hell is going on.

And I find this hard to believe from their interim GM...

So we're to believe that in this deadline frenzy that saw a bunch of really good prospects and players moved around, no one made an offer for Story that was better than the value of a compensatory draft pick next June? I mean, even two middling prospects have to be better than a #30-40 draft pick, no?

Things the Indians and Red Sox now have in common: They have both released Hanley Ramirez and Pablo Sandoval.
