Why wouldn't MLB Network black out game coverage during the trade deadline?I would love to tune to baseball coverage and instead ESPN has NFL coverage, MLBN is playing the Giants game, and nobody else is covering this stuff except the radio shows. What a waste.

Heh, why would you want to watch writers read their tweets out loud more than an actual Dodgers/Giants game?

Best two records in the NL, you maybe should try to get them to launch CrowMLBN.

There are over 4800 games a year. I couldn't care less about that one!
I like the Giants a lot and didn't know that game was on. Just turned it on, thanks to you guys. Sosh seems to have the info pretty quick about the trade stuff, and it's always fun to see the over-rated David Price give up four runs and come out of the game after the fourth inning.

What are the Mets doing? Mets fans are going to be furious if improvements aren't made.
@JonHeyman

Mets and Cubs are talking about deals for Kris Bryant and/or Zach Davies. Could make a nice package and solve Mets’ two main issues. Cubs have a lot going on obvs.

Shit. Bummed about Rizzo to the Yankees, one of my favorite non-Sox in the game.

And fuck me if the Dodgers get Scherzer AND Turner. How can they afford that kind of hit to their farm system and budget?

The scary thing is Buehler is their ace, Scherzer/Kershaw (once back) 2/3 now. Urias, Gonsolin, maybe they got Danny Duffy to make Starbucks runs?

Schilling and Johnson is the closest thing I remember to two absolutely unhittable guys on the same team.

Praying for rain has been the Yankees 2nd best pitcher. Maybe best if you go by recency bias.
If recency bias is only today, yes. Before today, they had a sub-2 ERA from their SPs combined in the last 19 games, the four guys besides Cole (Taillon/Montgomery/German/Cortes) are all pitching very well currently. Their offense and lack thereof is what has hurt their season so far, that and a very over his head manager.

I believe they have a $28M bulk payment to Bauer due at the end of the season, not sure if they will have to pay that or not. My guess is not, which is one reason they did this.

Also I will take Verlander/Scherzer over Kershaw/Scherzer, I still can't believe you guys beat them.

And they kept Lux/May/Cartaya/Busch/Miller. It's like an OOTP team with Commissioner Mode on.

Nothing since Daniel Hudson yet, I’m going to be up a while as the Djokovic/Zverev Olympic semi will be on around 4 or 5 so will keep refreshing.

Friedman knows the Dodgers window is shutting after 2022. It's a textbook GFIN move and exactly what's required these days. I love it.

Isn't it weird that this is the most exciting baseball has been in years? A frikkin trade deadline? It kind of overshadowed the draft last night.

This is how baseball gets energy back into the sport. Crazy deadlines and offseasons with a lot of moving players. I maintain that part of why basketball is so damn popular is because of the constant reshuffle and drama around it.

I agree. Its one of the things I most look forward to each season.

It’s a good point. People love drama. Trades is drama and free agency and superstars moving is also drama.

OK so:

1b - Muncy
2b - Taylor?
SS - Turner
3b- Turner
CF - Bellinger?
LF - Pollock
RF - Betts

Then Seager is back, and maybe Turner goes to CF?

Should the Dodgers look into trading Bellinger to restock the farm. It wouldn't affect this season's run since he has been poor for a year now. Seems crazy, but everyone else is either locked up and/or playing well.

Bellinger has been absolutely horrid this year, so would think it would be a bad time to trade him. Not sure what type of haul in prospects you'd get for him right now.

Holy shit, he has an OPS+ of 54. He won the MVP two seasons ago, won the ROY four seasons ago. His OPS+ for his first three seasons was 144! He wasn't great last year (OPS+ of 97), but it was a weird year

What happened to this guy??

Lingering effects from the shoulder injury in last years playoffs?

He's dislocated his shoulder a couple of times, and - just ask Adrian Gonzalez - shoulder injuries tend to really mess a hitter up. Dodgers are probably glad they didn't sign him to an extension after 2019!

Sorry to post twice in a row, but the team I'm surprised we haven't heard more from is Philly. The Mets just seem very catch-able to me, and I wouldn't think it would take much for them to upgrade. This goes for the Braves, also.

The Jays have a great run differential. Their bullpen has just been horrendous. An extra starter could bump everyone down and help, but they really need a good reliever beyond Hand.

That’s insane. It’s a better return than the Nats got for both Scherzer and Turner.

I’m not sure I love that deal for Toronto. You have to extend him now.
