Must have been very sudden, but in the comments section of his Mets preview, John Sickels posted that Vox is discontinuing the site.

He also stated that he may be able to take the brand with him elsewhere, but it was still TBD.

I hope Sickels pops up again somewhere very quickly. He's always been very down to Earth and approachable, and his coverage has always had great depth.

Agreed---I think it's a tough niche, and he clearly has sought to be somewhat indepdendent, but I hope he finds a good home.

The comments hoping for The Atlantic are interesting. I haven't cared enough about The Atlantic to subscribe, nor do I care enough about minor league baseball to subscribe to BA or the like, but if Sickels (and maybe a couple others) went to The Atlantic...I'd probably subscribe then.

The Atlantic or The Athletic? The Athletic is great, definitely recommended already.

You missed out my friend. Hitter top 50's, Pitcher top 50's, team top 20's, all with letter grades and explanations, daily anecdotal and trend updates, Ask Me Anything sessions, regular comment interaction, etc. Plus a pretty engaged community.

It has slowed down a bit the last couple of years but was still one of the best free sites around for info on minor leaguers.

He was my favorite prospect guy, but each year he was slower on his book and website than the last. He needs to be at a place where someone will hold him to account.

You are not the only one, but according to Sickels:

I can confirm that Minor League Ball content and archives will remain online and Vox will help with any transition to another platform. I can also confirm that the twitter account here will remain under my control.

He has a new home, he said on Twitter, but he can't reveal any details yet.

Well I'm a man of my word, so I subscribed. Good to see John land on his feet, and hopefully having a real publisher behind him gets him into a reliable writing schedule.
