Seems like every night now someone on every level of this organization is doing something big. Damn.

Sign Ohtani, roll in these good cost effective players over the next 2-3 years to balance the mega deal and let’s roll.

Hope Romero can get up to speed soon. I didn’t love either the Romero or Coffey picks so would love to be proven wrong again.

Looks like we have an IF logjam at AA. Meidroth has been playing 3B, Mayer SS, Yorke 2B and Kavadas 1B. That leaves no room for Blaze if he gets promoted. Mayer just got promoted, I think they want to give Yorke a full season at this level given how bad he was last year, and Kavadas was also promoted.

Meidroth’s walk and strikeout rates are very similar to his A+’s numbers. I’m wondering whether he gets another month and then gets bumped up to AAA, and then a spot opens up for Blaze at 3B.

It’s weird that Jordan doesn’t get more love, isn’t it?
Yes & no. He's basically a bat only prospect who hit the ball with no authority last year. So it's not surprising that it would take an extended period of what he's doing now to get people excited.

Yeah I guess I get that - an 803 OPS as a 19 year old last year isn’t terrible, though. Two years younger than the league average with an OPS 100 points higher.

I think he'll get more if he can answer questions at AA. Need a spot for him there though.

Is how they're using Perales typical? Seems like a lot of low pitch count games.
It is typical. Perales only threw 35 innings last year. He is at 31 now. They probably want to cap him somewhere from 70-90 so he is going to stay with low pitch counts all year.

Another dominant performance by Wikelman Gonzalez tonight (did I spell his first name right?!) – 1 walk and 9 k’s in 5.1 innings (plus 3 hits and 2 ER). This guy is getting interesting. Putting full stock in the SP report – and why not – he’s got the stuff but control and command has been an issue. Well, if that’s his weakness, he’s coming around. I’m cherry picking but over the last month plus, he’s had 3 dominant outings with no control issues: May 2 (5 IP, 1 ER, 1 BB and 9 K’s), May 27 (5.1 IP, 0 ER, 0 BB, 12 SO) and tonight.

And speaking of pitching prospects, maybe our best – Luis Perales - was dominant tonight: 5 IP, 1 hit, 0 runs, 0 BB, 7 SO
Wikelman & Perales Day is becoming a fun day.

Yeah, I mean he was fine, but not like omg this guy is a sure thing. Most of that OPS was based on a high BABIP & a lot of singles & some walks, which isn't exactly exciting.

This year he has cut down on his k rates a ton & is hitting with power.

Last year in his 106 A+ PAs he had a 25.5% k-rate & .130 ISO. This year was 14.6% & .211, even before this game.

Which he has improved upon...

I figured the Sea Dogs were too full for Mayer. To fit Blaze I'm even more skeptical, but was wrong with MM. Granted, Kavadas was a low key prospect heading into AA but he hasn't done a hell of a lot.

This has been the most exciting week for the farm clubs in a really long time. Just great performances at all levels. Anthony, Blaze, Mayer, Yorke, Cedanne all have had highlight reel plays. And Drohan, Perales, Wikelman have all looked great on the mound. Love it!

Kavadas is going to be 25 in October. If they found a taker for Dalbec & moved Kavadas up to let him sink or swim in AAA to make room for Blaze in AA, I would be fine with that.

Or alternatively a taker for Kavadas who wanted to send out some younger pitching flyers...

Those uniforms that the Drive are wearing are their ‘Black Spinner’ uniforms, modeled/remembering the Negro League team from 20s (it’s thought that they played most of their games at a field about a half mile from the stadium).

Their counterpart, the Spinners, is where Shoeless Joe was playing when Connie Mack bought his contract. He would skip directly into the majors. Lasorda also pitched for them. It’s where he met his future wife and later retired here.

Roman is gonna fuck around and be a top 50 guy going into ‘24. There is so much to like there and you have to really nitpick to back off an extreme bullish profile.

He’s the highest ceiling guy in the system not named Mayer.

He was already a top 50 guy per Kiley even before moving up & playing well.

I think Bleis might still be the highest ceiling guy in the system, despite the injury setbacks this year, which lower the chances of getting there further.

I agree on Bleis, but he has plenty of time to move back up after he comes back healthy next year.
